The Mattingly Settlement is a historic area and unincorporated community in Muskingum Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. It was named after the many members of the Mattingly family who settled the area in the 19th century, the first being William Mattingly (1778–1857) who arrived in 1812.

Widespread unincorporated communities and areas are a distinguishing feature of the United States and Canada. In most other countries of the world, there are either no unincorporated areas at all, or these are very rare; typically remote, outlying, sparsely populated or uninhabited areas.
Muskingum Township is one of the twenty-five townships of Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The 2010 census found 4,520 people in the township.
