Max William James Harwood (born 12 September 1997) is an English actor. He debuted in the title role of the film Everybody's Talking About Jamie (2021), an adaptation of the stage musical based on a true story. [1] [2] He was named a 2021 Brit to Watch by Variety . [3]

Early life

Harwood was born and raised in Basingstoke. [4] He attended Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School and then Queen Mary's College for sixth form where he took A Levels in theatre studies, art photography, music technology and history. [5] [6] He took a year-long foundation course at the Guildford School of Acting on a scholarship before going on to graduate from the Urdang Academy in London. [7]

Career

Harwood began his acting career in 2021, when he was cast to play the lead role of Jamie New / Mimi Me in the biographical coming-of-age musical comedy-drama film Everybody's Talking About Jamie , [8] [9] which was released in select theatres in the United States on 10 September 2021, [10] [11] followed by a worldwide streaming release on 17 September 2021 via Amazon Studios on Amazon Prime Video, for which he earned a 2021 Digital Spy Reader Awards for Rising Star – Film. [12] [13] [14] He also won Breakthrough Award in the Attitude Awards. [15] [16]

Harwood was cast to play one of the lead role of Oliver in the horror comedy film The Loneliest Boy in the World alongside Hero Fiennes Tiffin, which was released on 14 October 2022. [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] He also appeared in the shorts Seagull with Paul Cooper [22] and The Call with Adam Ali, David Ames and Oliver Wickham. [23]

In 2023, Harwood appeared in an episode of the Netflix anthology series Black Mirror [24] and played Alan Munson in the prequel play Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre on the West End. Harwood was announced as part of the cast of Dean Puckett's Magpie opposite Tuppence Middleton and Thomas Turgoose, playing David. [25]

Samuel Bottomley is an English actor. He began acting at the age of nine, when he made his professional debut in the 2011 film Tyrannosaur. He portrays Garrett Laughlin in Love, Simon, Brian MacIntosh in The Hate U Give, Rafe Cameron in the Netflix teen drama series Outer Banks, Zach MacLaren in The Other Zoey, and Hawkins in the VH1 series Scream: Resurrection and will be in the new upcoming film Queer with Daniel Craig.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2021 film of the same name based on the eponymous stage musical. Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae whom wrote the music, book and lyrics for the musical, had written, composed and produced the album. The soundtrack album was released by Island Records and New Regency Music on 10 September 2021, the same day as its U.S. release. Though mostly excludes five of the musical numbers from the stage play, the album features an additional song "This Was Me", performed by Richard E. Grant and Holly Johnson. The soundtrack includes contributions from Becky Hill, Todrick Hall, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Chaka Khan and The Feeling, alongside the film's musical numbers. The album was well received by critics and audiences.

The Loneliest Time is the sixth studio album by Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen. It was released on October 21, 2022, through 604 Records in Canada, and School Boy and Interscope Records. The album was preceded by the release of its lead single, "Western Wind", which was followed by "Beach House", "Talking to Yourself", and the title track.
