Max Mutzke is the debut studio album by German recording artist Max Mutzke. It was released by Rare Records and Warner Music Group on 7 January 2005 in German-speaking Europe after he had won both the talent contest SSDSGPS on the ProSieben late-night talk show TV total and Germany 12 Points! , Germany's national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. A third channel called ProSieben Maxx started broadcasting on 3 September 2013.
A late-night talk show is a genre of talk show popular in the United States, where the format originated. It is generally structured around humorous monologues about the day's news, guest interviews, comedy sketches and music performances. The late-night talk show format was popularized, though not invented, by Johnny Carson with The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson on NBC. Typically the show's host conducts interviews from behind a desk, while the guest is seated on a couch. Many late night talk shows feature a house band which generally performs cover songs for the studio audience during commercial breaks and occasionally will back up a guest artist.

Chiefly written and produced by TV total host Stefan Raab, Max Mutzke includes songs in German and English language and was preceded by the singles "Can't Wait Until Tonight," his ESC entry, and "Schwarz auf weiß." Upon its release, it debuted atop the German Albums Chart and was eventually certified gold by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI).
Stefan Konrad Raab is a German entertainer, comedian, musician and former television host. Raab began his television career hosting the comedy show Vivasion in 1993. He became well known in 1994 after composing a hit single spoofing national football coach Berti Vogts. From 1999 to 2015, he hosted the late-night comedy show TV total and has also created a number of other television shows, such as Schlag den Raab and Bundesvision Song Contest. In the early 2010s, Raab was considered the "most powerful man in German entertainment television".

"Can't Wait Until Tonight" was the German entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, performed in English and Turkish by Max. The song was written and composed by Stefan Raab, who previously had written both Guildo Horn's 1998 entry "Guildo hat euch lieb!" and his own "Wadde hadde dudde da?" in 2000.
