Akinmayokun Awodumila (born 28 December 1984), popularly known as May D, is a Nigerian singer. He was formally signed to R&B duo P-Square's record label Square Records. [2]
May D was born Akinmayokun Awodumila in Lagos into a family of seven. He attended the University of Lagos, where he studied mass communication.
He rose to stardom in the same year he got signed to the label Square Records, in 2011. [3] On 21 August 2012, it was officially announced that May D was no longer in the label, as stated by Premium Times news. [4] [5]
On 13 May 2011, May D released his first single "Soundtrack" via the label Square Records. The music video, directed by Clarence Peters, was released on 12 January 2012. The video originally had over 10 million views on their YouTube channel before being deleted by the label. [6] [7] On 25 September 2012, May D founded an independent record label known as Confam Entertainment. [8] On 18 July 2020, May D announced on his Twitter handle that he had signed with Davido Music Worldwide. [9] [10]

P-Square are a Nigerian music duo composed of the twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye, who co-write and co-produce most of their songs. Noted for their artistic reinvention, musical versatility, and visual presentation, they are widely regarded as one of the most influential African acts of all time and one of the most successful music groups from Africa. They were integral to the evolution of the 2000s and 2010s African popular music. The duo was launched into the mainstream recognition following the release of the song “Senorita” in 2003, and later gain recognition after releasing their sophomore album Get Squared in 2005. The success of the album earned them a nomination at the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act in 2006. A prominent figure in the Africa popular culture of the 21st Century, P-Square was awarded Artistes of the Decade at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2015.

Omo Baba Olowo is the debut album by Nigerian singer Davido. It was released by HKN Music on July 17, 2012, and is a mixture of Afrobeats and hip hop. Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, pianist and dancer. He released a cover of Davido's "The Money" single and was discovered by the singer on Twitter. Mayorkun was signed to Davido's record label DMW from 2016 to 2021; his debut single "Eleko" was released under the label. Mayorkun released his debut studio album The Mayor of Lagos in November 2018. After his exit from DMW in 2021; he released "Let Me Know" and his second studio album Back In Office in October 2021, under the Sony Music West Africa division.
