The Invasion is the fifth studio album by Nigerian musical duo P-Square. It was released on 29 July 2011 by Square Records. The album features guest appearances from Tiwa Savage, Naeto C, Waje, May D, Eva, and Muna.
The duo promoted and celebrated the album by putting together a concert called "The Invasion Concert", which was held at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel in Lagos on 30 July 2011. It featured additional performances from May D, Lynxxx, Eva Alordiah, Muna, 9ice, Ikechukwu, and Bovi. [2]
The album's two singles "Bunieya Enu" and "Forever" were released simultaneously on 13 May 2011. "Bunieya Enu" is a fast-tempo track in Igbo and "Forever" features an interpolation of "I Really Like It" by Harlem World. [3]
The Invasion incorporates a variety of musical styles and themes that is composed of R&B, reggae, hip hop, Europop and contemporary highlife sounds. "Beautiful Onyinye", reminiscent of "No One Like You" off the Game Over (2007), and "Forever" are R&B records that cater to R&B lovers, while "Player" and "Jeje" cater to Europop lovers. "She's Hot" and "Me and My Brother" are reggae riddims that explore the depths of the reggae music genre. "Shake It Down Low" caters to hip hop lovers who are fans of lyrical content and mesmerizing beats. [4]
The album primarily focuses on love, wealth, success, and nightlife. In "Beautiful Onyinye", "Forever" and "She's Hot", P-Square expresses the love, affection and emotional outburst they share with their significant other. In "Chop My Money" and "Me and My Brother", the duo talked about their vast wealth and the blessings that have been bestowed upon them. "Shake It Down Low" and "Do as I Do" celebrate and explore the feelings and excitement of nightlife. [1]

The Invasion was met with mixed reviews from music critics. Many critics felt the album was recycled and lacked originality. Others praised its lyrical content, sound, composure and depth. Ayomide Tayo of Nigerian Entertainment Today described The Invasion as lacking innovation, stating, "You can’t teach an old dog a new trick." He criticized the album for relying on "the same old gimmicks" despite its Euro-pop beats and noted it felt "all over the place" with mixed results in experimentation. Tayo concluded that P-Square needed to evolve musically to avoid future irrelevance. [4] Wilfred Okiche of online Nigerian music magazine YNaija described it as falling short of expectations for Africa’s biggest pop duo, criticizing its lack of originality and growth. While tracks like "Beautiful Onyinye", "Chop My Money", and "Shake It Down Low" stood out, the album overall was deemed "not worthy of their current status," with many songs relying on their past formula. Okiche noted that P-Square's loyal fanbase would still embrace the record despite its shortcomings. Despite some standout tracks like "Chop My Money," "Jeje," and "Shake It Down Low," the album leaned heavily on their established sound, with the verdict being 6.1/10. The review concluded that P-Square "may not have pulled off an Invasion this time around," but they are close to achieving it. [1]

P-Square are a Nigerian music duo composed of the twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye, who co-write and co-produce most of their songs. Noted for their artistic reinvention, musical versatility, and visual presentation, they are widely regarded as one of the most influential African acts of all time and one of the most successful music groups from Africa. They were integral to the evolution of the 2000s and 2010s African popular music. The duo was launched into the mainstream recognition following the release of the song “Senorita” in 2003, and later gain recognition after releasing their sophomore album Get Squared in 2005. The success of the album earned them a nomination at the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act in 2006. A prominent figure in the Africa popular culture of the 21st Century, P-Square was awarded Artistes of the Decade at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2015.
Game Over is the third studio album by the Nigerian duo P-Square. It was released on 1 May 2007, through Square Records. Developed as a visual album, nearly all the songs received a music video. P-Square embraced a new musical direction with the desire to assert their full artistic expression. The album's theme incorporates Love, Desire, Betrayal, Regret, Assurance, and Political criticism. Essentially an R&B and pop album, Gameover also covered genres like reggae and hip hop. The album boasts of singles like "No one like you," "Roll it," "Ifunanya," and the lead single "Do Me" - which featured vocals from Waje. The album which sold over 10million copies worldwide, was credited for redefining music videos in the African music industry with the singles "Do Me,” “Temptation remix” and "Roll it". On 1 May 2007, the album was released on iTunes.
Solar Plexus the debut compilation album released by Mavin Records on May 8, 2012. Produced entirely by Don Jazzy, the album comprises thirteen tracks and was made available for free digital download. It contains solo tracks recorded by D'Prince, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal and Dr SID. The album's release coincided with the record label's launch date. Solar Plexus was supported the singles "Take Banana" and "Omo Ga". The album received generally negative reviews from music critics, who called it a rushed project and considered it be Don Jazzy's weakest produced album of his career.

L.I.F.E is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Burna Boy. It was released on August 12, 2013, by Aristokrat Records. The album serves as the follow-up to his second mixtape, Burn Identity (2011), and sold 40,000 copies on the first day of its release. Aristokrat Records later sold the album's marketing rights to Uba Pacific for ₦10 million. 2 Kings is a collaborative studio album by Nigerian rappers Olamide and Phyno. It was released through Cloud 9 and the iTunes Store with little announcement on 1 April 2015, by Penthauze Music and YBNL Nation. The album features collaborations with producers and guest artists such as Wizkid, Lil Kesh, Storm Rex, Pheelz, Major Bangz, B.Banks and Young John. Prior to recording the album, Olamide and Phyno frequently collaborated with each other on several songs, including "Ghost Mode" and "Dope Money". The album produced the singles "Une" and "Confam Ni".
Eyan Mayweather is the fifth studio album by Nigerian rapper Olamide, released on 23 November 2015. Released through YBNL Nation with studio production from Pheelz, Young Jonn, B Banks and I.D. Cabasa, Eyan Mayweather serves as the follow-up to 2 Kings, a collaborative album by Olamide and Phyno.
The Indestructible Choc Boi Nation is a compilation album by recording artists of Nigerian record label Chocolate City. It was released exclusively on the Star Music platform for free digital streaming on April 30, 2015. The album features appearances from Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, M.I Abaga, Nosa, Ruby Gyang, Victoria Kimani, Pryse, DJ Lambo, DJ Caise, Loose Kaynon, Dice Ailes, Milli and Koker. Its production was handled by Jesse Jagz, Reinhard, L37, Tunday, Teck Zilla, Nosa, DJ Caise, Ckay, and TMXO. The album's release celebrated the merger of Loopy Music and Chocolate City, as well as Jesse Jagz's return to the label. Man of the Year is the debut studio album by Nigerian recording artist Skales. It was released on 18 May 2015, through Baseline Music. The album features a blend of Afrobeats, hip hop, and R&B. Man of the Year was preceded by six singles.
Versus, also known by the longer title Versus: The Battle Line Is Drawn, is the fourth studio album by Nigerian indigenous artist 9ice. It was released on 7 December 2011 by Alapomeji Ancestral Records, alongside Bashorun Gaa. The album features a blend of Afrobeat and hip hop. The album was titled Versus because many artists are featured on the album, in which, 9ice is "versing" them, when, really, he's featuring them on his songs. Notable artists were featured on the album, including 2Baba, Banky W., Duncan Mighty, Seriki, Mode 9, V.I.P, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Dagrin, M.I, Ajayi Brovas, Kwaw Kese, Timaya, Kwam 1, and Wizboyy. Double Dare (Heartbeat) is the third studio album by Nigerian R&B and Afro-soul artist Darey. It was released on 28 February 2011 by Soul Muzik. The album is a double album, with the first disc, Heart focusing on mid-tempo highlife songs fused with R&B, and the second disc, Beat leaning towards up-tempo electronic dance tracks and pop music.
