Mayang Sari Beach Resort is a hotel and resort on the northwestern coast of Bintan, Indonesia.

The resort can be reached from Singapore or from Hang Nadim International Airport by a one-hour ferry ride. [1]

History

Mayang Sari Beach Resort opened in March 1995. [2] It was the first venture of SMI Hotels & Resorts in Indonesia. [3] The Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore began operation in November 1995, providing a new way to reach the island. [2] As of 2024 the resort was part of the Nirwana Gardens Bintan hotel chain. [1]

Features

The three-star hotel has about fifty chalets built of traditional bamboo and straw materials, set in the gardens or along the beach, each with a bedroom, living room, bathroom and terrace. [4] The chalets have wooden interiors, and are air conditioned. [1]

Facilities include a spa, restaurants and bar. [4] The Kelong seafood restaurant is on stilts over the water and serves Indonesian and Chinese cuisine. The Rin restaurant has Japanese cuisine. [1] As of 2023 the resort had a paintball arena catering to players of all levels of skill. [5] Other facilities include a swimming pool and a sauna. Babysitting service is available. [6]

MV <i>Doulos Phos</i> Retired ocean liner and cruise ship

MV Doulos Phos is a retired ocean liner, and former cruise ship that held the record of being the world's oldest active ocean-going passenger ship, serving from 1914 until December 2009. She is now owned by Eric Saw, director and chief executive of BizNaz Resources International Pte Ltd in Singapore. She was previously operated by the German charity Gute Bücher für Alle, and was used as a floating bookshop and missionary ship. The ship has previously been known as the SS Medina, the SS Roma, the MV Franca C, and the MV Doulos. Doulos ended her final cruise in late 2009 at Singapore, with the ship being handed over to her new owners on 18 March 2010. The ship underwent a three year conversion into a luxury hotel that saw the ship mounted on dry land in nearby Bintan, Indonesia and opened in June 2019.

Changi Village is a modern village situated at the northern tip of Changi which is at the eastern end of Singapore. It is the usual connecting point for travellers heading to Pulau Ubin or Malaysia by ferry. Fishermen in the kelongs located in the Serangoon Harbour offshore also use this jetty as a drop off point to come onto mainland. Changi Village also has many resorts and leisure facilities to cater for a weekend getaway for many Singaporeans. The resort opened in 2007, and as of 2020 consists of eighteen beach houses.
