The mayor of Gazipur City is the chief executive of the Gazipur City Corporation in Bangladesh. The mayor's office administers all city services, public property, most public agencies, and enforces all city and state laws within Gazipur City. [1]

Delwoar Hossain was a 50-year-old Bangladeshi engineer who was murdered on May 11, 2020. His family members, coworkers, and various sources alleged Delwoar's stance against corruption was the motive behind the murder. Protesters demonstrated across the country demanding justice for Delwoar. Authorities claimed the murder happened because of a feud between coworkers which is refuted by the family of the victim. The 2023 Gazipur City Corporation election is a Bangladeshi local governmental election being held on 25 May 2023. The City Corporation elections are held every five years, and this was the third of its kind in Gazipur. A total of 8 candidates contested for the mayoral post, and 246 and 79 contesting for 57 general and 19 reserved (women) seats in the city council, respectively.

Jayeda Khatun is a Bangladeshi housewife-turned-politician, and the 3rd mayor-elect of Gazipur. She was elected as mayor of the Gazipur City Corporation in 2023 city election contesting as an independent candidate and by defeating Awami League candidate Azmat Ullah Khan.
