Mechanized Warfare is the sixth studio album released by American power metal band Jag Panzer, released on August 7, 2001.
Guitarist Mark Briody came up with the title Mechanized Warfare. The band had intended to rewrite the lyrics to "Cold is the Blade (And the Heart That Wields It)" to fit this concept and be the title track, but had run out of time before entering the studio. The album cover was designed by Travis Smith, who the band knew through their connections with Iced Earth. Briody and Smith worked together to come up with ideas and design the cover, which features a deformed Panzer tank.
The album features choir vocals which were recorded by vocalist Harry Conklin, guitarists Mark Briody and John Tatley, and producer Jim Morris. As Briody was unwilling to credit, vocals were credited to the fictional choir The Monks From the Order of Saint Hubbins.
"Take to the Sky" was written about stealth fighter jets with the intent to modernise Jag Panzer's lyrics and discuss modern warfare topics. Morris, a pilot, provided guidance in writing the lyrics. A music video was also released for the song, recording on a mountain in the band's home state of Colorado. "The Silent" was inspired by Conklin seeing people in Europe who wished to become vampires, while "Cold is the Blade (And the Heart That Wields It)" was inspired by Conan the Barbarian stories.
The band and Morris disagreed over the song "Power Surge", with the latter, according to Conklin, describing it as cheesy.
"All Things Renewed" is the final part of a trilogy beginning with "The Crucifix" on Ample Destruction, and continuing with "Judgement Day" from The Fourth Judgement. [2] There is a bonus track at the end of the song, featuring parts of "The Scarlet Letter", the audio quality sounding like an old phonograph recording with an old time piano in the background.

Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within a symphonic context. Generally, power metal is characterized by a faster, lighter, and more uplifting sound, in contrast with the heaviness and dissonance prevalent in, for example, extreme metal. Power metal bands usually have anthemic songs with fantasy-based subject matter and strong choruses, thus creating a theatrical, dramatic and emotionally "powerful" sound.
Haunting the Chapel is an extended play (EP) released by American thrash metal band Slayer in 1984 through Metal Blade and Enigma Records. Slayer's debut album Show No Mercy became Metal Blade's highest-selling, leading to producer Brian Slagel wanting to release an EP. Recorded in Hollywood, the recording process proved difficult when recording drums in a studio without carpet, although it resulted in drummer Dave Lombardo meeting Gene Hoglan who was to become an influence in his drumming style and speed. It was during the recording of this session that Lombardo first had the double bass added to his kit. Hoglan, working for Slayer at the time, sat at the kit and played a double bass for the first time. Lombardo was impressed and although Hoglan never gave him lessons, he did give him tips regarding the use of the double kick drum.
Jag Panzer is an American power metal band from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Christopher Alan Broderick is an American musician, best known as a former guitarist of the thrash metal band Megadeth. He is also formerly the lead guitarist and keyboardist for Jag Panzer, appearing on four of the band's albums, The Age of Mastery, Thane to the Throne, Mechanized Warfare and Casting the Stones. Prior to joining Megadeth and while still in Jag Panzer, he served as a touring guitarist for Nevermore from 2001 to 2003, and again between 2006 and 2007. Following his departure from Megadeth, Broderick formed Act of Defiance in 2014. He joined Swedish metal band In Flames in 2019 as a touring guitarist, before becoming the band's permanent rhythm and lead guitarist in 2022.
Solefald is a Norwegian avant-garde metal/black metal band that was formed by members Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland and Cornelius Jakhelln in August 1995, with Nedland singing and playing keyboard/synthesizer/piano and drums, and Jakhelln singing and playing guitar and bass. The duo experiment with a wide array of musical styles, frequently work on other projects, and rarely perform live under the Solefald name, leading them to describe themselves as "two stubborn goats pretending to be a band." According to the duo, their name is an Old Norse word for "sunset," taken from one of Theodor Kittelsen's paintings illustrating a poem of the same name by Theodor Caspari, published in the 1901 book Vintereventyr.

It comprises re-recordings of songs from the band's previous studio releases: the Jag Panzer EP (1983), Ample Destruction (1984), and Dissident Alliance (1994), two songs previously released on compilations, as well as the Shadow Thief demo and the album Chain of Command, both of which were previously unreleased at the time of the album's release. The album title comes from a line from the song "Licensed to Kill", which was originally released on Ample Destruction and was re-recorded for the album.
