Mehwish Hayat (born 6 January 1988) is a Pakistani actress who primarily works in Urdu films, and formerly, in television. She made her debut in the film with the comedy Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (2015) and later went on to become an Actor in Law (2016). Hayat had since starred in the comedies Punjab Nahi Jaungi (2017), Load Wedding (2018), and London Nahi Jaunga (2022), all of which rank among one of highest-grossing Pakistani films. [3] [4] [5]

2012 romantic drama series Meray Qatil Meray Dildar marked a significant turning point in Hayat's career, earning her praise and nomination for Best Actress at the Lux Style Awards. She later portraying of a strong headed in Kashif Nisar's acclaim series Kami Reh Gayi (2013). [6] She achieved further success by featuring in four of Momina Duraid's romantic dramas— Phir Chand Pe Dastak (2011), Mirat-ul-Uroos (2012), Ishq Mein Teray (2013), Ru Baru (2014) and Anjum Shahzad's highly successful family drama Kabhi Kabhi (2013). Her last Pakistani television appearance was Nadeem Baig's tragic romance Dil Lagi (2016). [7] [8] [9] [10] In 2022 she had a supporting role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series Ms. Marvel, as the character Aisha, who has to flee India to Pakistan during the 1940s.

Hayat is the recipient of Lux Style Award and was honoured by the Government of Pakistan with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2019. [11] [12]

Personal life

Hayat was born on 6 January 1988 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. [1] [2] [13] Her mother, Rukhsar Hayat, was a popular television actress during the 1980s, [14] her eldest brother Zeeshan is a singer-composer while her older sister, Afsheen, is a singer as well. [15] [16] [17] [18] Another older brother, Danish Hayat, is an actor and, through him, she's the sister-in-law of Faiza Ashfaq, a model. [19] [20] [21] In 2020 there were reports in the Indian media that Hayat was in a relationship with Dawood Ibrahim, a crime lord on India's most-wanted list. The rumors about the relationship have never been substantiated and were likely slander resulting from Hayat's outspoken opinions. [22]

Zainab Qayyum also known as ZQ, is a Pakistani television actress, host, composer, and former model. Qayyum has appeared in numerous Urdu television series and music videos, and is known for her comic and strong antagonist roles in television serials. Fahad Salahuddin commonly known as Fahad Mustafa is a Pakistani film and television actor and producer who is best known for hosting Jeeto Pakistan, a game show that airs on ARY Digital and he made his debut film as Na Maloom Afraad (2014).

Sohai Ali Abro is a Pakistani actress, dancer and model, who appears in Pakistani television serials and films. Vasay Chaudhry is a Pakistani screenwriter, actor, director, producer, host, and comedian. He is best known for writing sitcoms and comedy-dramas for Pakistani televisions. He is also known for writing films. He wrote Main Hoon Shahid Afridi and Jawani Phir Nahi Ani. While Mai Hoon Shahid Afridi was an average success, Jawani phir Nahe ani went on to become the highest grossing film of Pakistan cinema and broke all the previous Box office records while earning more than 490 million at the box office. He also wrote Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, which was released on 2018 Eid al-Adha and broke the all time biggest box office grosses record.It also went on to become the First Pakistani film to make 700 Million rupees worldwide. Chaudhry is also known for hosting the comedy show, Mazaaq Raat, on Dunya News since 2015.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, sometimes abbreviated as JPNA is a 2015 Pakistani adventure comedy film directed by Nadeem Baig. It was co-produced by Humayun Saeed, Salman Iqbal and Shahzad Nasib at Saeed's production house, Six Sigma Plus. It is the first installment in the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani film series. The film stars Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahmad Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry and Mehwish Hayat. The supporting cast includes Sohai Ali Abro, Jawed Sheikh, Ismail Tara, Bushra Ansari, Ayesha Khan, Sarwat Gillani and Uzma Khan. The film is about a single man who is a divorce lawyer. He takes his three married friends on a trip to help them escape their wives and the monotony of their lives.

Rabia Iqbal Khan known by her stage name Kubra Khan is a British-Pakistani actress who works in Urdu television and films. She made her debut in 2014 with the film Na Maloom Afraad. Khan is described among the nation's highest-paid actresses by the media.

Actor in Law is a 2016 Pakistani socio-comedy film directed by Nabeel Qureshi, co-written and produced by Fizza Ali Meerza along with Mehdi Ali. The film was released on Eid-ul-Adha 2016 by Urdu 1 Pictures. The film stars Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat in lead roles. The cast also includes veteran Indian actor Om Puri in his first Pakistani film. On 19 April 2017, the movie received the Best Film award at the 16th Lux Style Awards.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, sometimes abbreviated as JPNA 2, is a 2018 Pakistani Urdu-language romantic comedy film, directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Vasay Chaudhry. It is a joint venture of Salman Iqbal Films, Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib's Six Sigma Plus, and Jerjees Seja's ARY Films. It is sequel to the 2015 film Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, and the second installment in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani film series. The cast includes Humayun Saeed, Ahmed Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Uzma Khan and Sarwat Gillani all of whom reprise their roles from previous film, along with Fahad Mustafa, Kubra Khan, and Mawra Hocane who join the franchise.

Punjab Nahi Jaungi, is a 2017 Pakistani romantic comedy film directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. It stars Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat alongside Sohail Ahmed, Saba Hameed ,and Urwa Hocane in pivotal roles. The story is about a love triangle between the lead characters, and also exhibits the Punjabi culture of Pakistan. A spin-off, titled London Nahi Jaunga, was released to mixed reviews in 2022.

Load Wedding is a 2018 Pakistani romantic comedy film, which is directed by Nabeel Qureshi and co-written and co-produced by Fizza Ali Meerza under the banner of Filmwala Pictures. The film stars Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat in lead roles. Released on Eid al-Adha; 22 August 2018, it was distributed by IMGC and Geo Films nationwide, and by Zee Studios internationally.

The 19th Lux Style Awards presented by Lux to honor the best in fashion, music, films and Pakistani television of 2019, held digitally on 31 December 2020. The awards were held virtually due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.
