Melanie Hooper is an Australian ballroom and Latin dancer. She was a professional dancer on Australia's Dancing with the Stars. She also toured with dance show Burn the Floor .

Early life

Melanie Hooper was born in Townsville, Australia. [1] Hooper began dancing at age 13. [2]

Career

Hooper moved to Brisbane at age 21 to advance her dance career. She began competing in Sydney and Melbourne. Then, to further her career she moved to London, England. [3] Her dancing titles include UK Rising Star Professional Latin Champion, German Professional Rising Star Latin Champion, Australian Open Professional Latin Champion, and Moscow World Professional Latin. [4] [5] In 2008, Hooper joined the dance show Burn the Floor . [5] She was with the production when it moved to Broadway in 2009. [6]

Hooper joined Australia's Dancing with the Stars in 2011, In her first season as a professional dancer, she partnered Damien Leith. They placed third. [2] Her 2012 partner was 80's rocker Brian Mannix. In spite of low scores, Mannix and Hooper made it to week eight of the competition. [7] The following season she was paired with television performer Tony Barber. [1] Barber was the second celebrity eliminated. [8] In 2014, her partner was AFL player David Rodan. Rodan and Hooper received five perfect scores on their way to winning the competition. [9]

Hooper toured the United Kingdom with Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole's tours in 2012, 2013, and 2014. [2] [4]

Personal life

In 2013, Hooper was engaged to Jarrod Tranter. [1] Hooper married Tranter in 2015. [10]

Maksim "Maks" Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-American Latin–ballroom dance champion, choreographer, and instructor. He is widely known as one of the professional dancers on the American television series Dancing with the Stars, on which he first appeared in season two. In his 17 seasons as a competing pro on the show, Chmerkovskiy made it to the final round five times, with two runner-up and two third-place finishes. On May 20, 2014, Chmerkovskiy, paired with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis, won his first Dancing with the Stars title. Chmerkovskiy has also starred in the Broadway productions of dance shows Burn the Floor and Forever Tango.

Lacey Mae Schwimmer is an American ballroom dancer and singer. She is best known as a fourth place finalist of the third season of So You Think You Can Dance. She is the daughter of noted dancer Buddy Schwimmer, as well as the cousin of Heidi Groskreutz, who placed fourth on the second season of So You Think You Can Dance and younger sister of Benji Schwimmer, the winner of the show's second season. She participated in the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars as a professional dancer paired with Lance Bass of 'N Sync, in the eighth season of the show paired with Jackass star Steve-O and in the ninth season paired with actor and Iron Chef America host Mark Dacascos. Schwimmer returned to Dancing with the Stars for its eleventh season and she was partnered with Disney Channel star Kyle Massey and in the 12th season, paired with radio host Mike Catherwood. In the thirteenth season, she was paired with transgender activist Chaz Bono. Schwimmer did not return for season 14 of Dancing With The Stars'.

Derek Bruce Hough is an American professional Latin and ballroom dancer, choreographer, actor and singer. From 2007 to 2016, Hough was a professional dancer on the ABC dance competition series Dancing with the Stars, winning the show a record-breaking six times with his celebrity partners. For his work, Hough received eleven nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography, winning the award three times. Hough later became a judge on the series beginning with its 29th season.

Daniella Karagach Pashkova is an American dancer. Karagach and dance partner Leonid Juashkovsky are three-time United States junior I and II Latin champions. They were the 2007 junior II 10 dance champions. Abroad, they reached the finals in the Celtic Classic, Moscow Open and Barcelona Open. Karagach and Juashkovsky were the United States representatives to the World Championships in Latvia, Russia and Barcelona. They appeared on seasons 2 and 3 of America's Ballroom Challenge on PBS.After Leonid, she paired with Pashaa Pashkov, with whom they won numerous US and world championships, including, National titles in Latin, Ballroom, 10 dance and showdance. They won the Rising Star championships in Blackpool,UK Open and UK Open 10-dance. She became a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars in 2019, when she was paired up with Nelly. She went on to win her first Mirrorball trophy in her third season with celebrity partner Iman Shumpert.

The thirteenth season of Dancing with the Stars Australia premiered live on 1 October 2013. Daniel MacPherson continued his role as main host of the show on Channel Seven. However, Melanie Brown had announced she wouldn't be returning for her second season as co-host, in order to pursue a judging role on America's Got Talent. Sunrise weather presenter, Edwina Bartholomew permanently replaced Brown for this season.

Jenna Johnson is an American Latin and ballroom dancer and choreographer. She first gained attention in 2013, as she finished ladies' third runner-up on So You Think You Can Dance season 10. Johnson continued her professional dancing career on Dancing with the Stars, winning her second season with her partner, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon.

Ryan McShane is a Northern Irish dancer and choreographer. He, alongside his professional partner, Ksenia Zsikhotska, were the 2016 United Kingdom & British Latin Professional Champions and British Show Dance Champions. He is also known as being one of the professional dancers on the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars.

Giulia Dotta is an Italian dancer and choreographer. She started dancing from an early age specialising in latin and ballroom dance and has had competition experience at both national and international levels. She is best known for being a professional dancer on the Irish series of Dancing with the Stars.

Ksenia Zsikhotska is a Ukrainian dancer and choreographer. She is best known for her role as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars. She, alongside professional partner, Ryan McShane, were the 2016 United Kingdom & British Latin Professional Champions & British Show Dance Champions.

Valeria Milova is an Estonian dancer and choreographer. She is best known for her role as a professional dancer on the Irish and Turkish versions of Dancing with the Stars.

Kylee Vincent is a South African dancer and choreographer. She is a former UK Latin Champion.
