Michael Brewer (born November 13, 1992) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Virginia Tech and was their starting quarterback from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that he played at Texas Tech from 2011 to 2013.
Brewer was redshirted as a freshman in 2011. He spent the 2012 season serving as the backup quarterback to Seth Doege. [1] In Summer 2013, Brewer injured his back, which kept him sidelined for the first month of the 2013 season. He was projected to be the starting quarterback before the injury. By the time he returned, freshman quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Davis Webb had entrenched their positions at the top of the quarterback depth chart. On March 2, 2014, Brewer announced that he would be transferring to Virginia Tech. [2]
Brewer had a rocky go around in his first season at Virginia Tech. Some highlights of his 2014–2015 season with the Virginia Tech Hokies football team consisted of defeating the future National Champions of that season, the Ohio State Buckeyes, in Columbus, OH. Brewer and the Hokies were the only team to defeat Ohio State the entire season, and it was the first time since 1979 that the Buckeyes had lost their home opener. Brewer and the Hokies also defeated the #19 ranked Duke Blue Devils in Durham, NC. Of the 6 losses for the season for the Virginia Tech Hokies, 5 of those losses were by 7 points or less (the exception was losing to the Miami Hurricanes in Blacksburg, VA by 24 points).
On September 7, 2015, Brewer suffered a broken collarbone during the 2015 season opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes. It was revealed after the game that Brewer would require surgery and he was expected to be sidelined between four and eight weeks. [3] He missed a total of five games before making an appearance in relief duty on October 17 against Miami. A week later, he returned to the field as the starting quarterback. In the ACC Coastal Division match-up against Duke, Brewer went 24/45 for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 45-43 4OT loss. [4] [5] In his final game, he led Virginia Tech to a victory in the Independence Bowl, in what would be Frank Beamer's final game as a coach.
Brewer's father, Robert Brewer, grandfather, Charley Brewer, and uncle, Rob Moerschell, played quarterback at Texas. [6] His brother Charlie Brewer was a quarterback at Baylor and Utah.

The 2008 Virginia Tech Hokies football team represented Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team's head coach was Frank Beamer. Prior to the season, the Hokies were expected to be in a rebuilding mode, recovering after the graduation of several key players. Despite that fact, Tech was picked to win the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division in the annual preseason poll of media covering the ACC. The Hokies were ranked the No. 15 team in the country at the start of the season, but suffered an upset loss to East Carolina in their first game. Tech recovered, however, and won five consecutive games following the loss, the ACC Championship, and the Orange Bowl. Permanent team captains were Macho Harris, Orion Martin, Brett Warren, and Ryan Shuman.
Charles Brewer is a former American football player. He was the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns from 1953–1954. He is the father half of the only father-son combination to be starting quarterbacks at Texas. His son Robert, was the starting quarterback for the Longhorns during the 1981 and 1982 season.

Justin James Fuente is an American football coach who currently serves as a football analyst for the Indiana Hoosiers. He was the head football coach at Virginia Tech from 2016 to 2021. He was the 2016 ACC Coach of the Year. Fuente was the head football coach at the University of Memphis from 2012 to 2015. He was an assistant at Texas Christian University from 2007 to 2011 and previously at Illinois State University from 2001 to 2006. Fuente attended the University of Oklahoma before transferring to Murray State University after his redshirt sophomore season. He played quarterback for both schools. Fuente played a single season with the Oklahoma Wranglers of the Arena Football League.

It was the Buckeyes' 125th overall, the 102nd as a member of the Big Ten Conference, and first season as a member of the newly reorganized Eastern Division. The team was led by Urban Meyer, in his third year as head coach, and played their home games at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. They finished the season with 14 wins and 1 loss, as Big Ten champions and as national champions after they defeated Oregon in the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Winning 14 games in a season tied the school record set by the Buckeyes' previous national champion team.
The 2015 Sugar Bowl was a college football game that was played on January 1, 2015 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was the 81st Sugar Bowl, and a semifinal game in the College Football Playoff. It was one of the 2014–15 bowl games that concluded the 2014 FBS football season. Robert Wilton Speight III is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the Michigan Wolverines and UCLA. In high school, he was a 2014 Under Armour All-America Game selection and subsequently committed to play in college for Michigan. Speight redshirted in 2014 and was the backup quarterback in 2015. As a redshirt sophomore in 2016, he started 12 games and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors. In 2017, Speight started four games before suffering a season-ending injury. In April 2018, Speight transferred to UCLA for his final season of eligibility.
