Michael Ciccarelli

Michael Ciccarelli (born September 4, 1996) is a Canadian snowboarder. He hails from Ancaster, Ontario and is a member of the Canadian National Slopestyle/Big Air Team. Coming from a family of skiers, Mikey has been snowboarding since the age of six, when his parents finally relented to his begging and bought him a board. Mikey grew up on the slopes of the Georgian Peaks Ski Club in Thornbury Ontario. Mikey's career was catapulted in 2012 when he won the gold medal for slopestyle at the Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. [1] His pro resume highlights consist of a win at the 2015 Stoneham World Cup, a 2nd-place finish at the 2017 Burton US Open, a 2nd-place finish at the 2016 Fenway Park U.S. Grand Prix/World Cup Big Air, a 3rd-place finish at the 2015 Cardona World Cup, and a 4th-place finish at the 2017 Air & Style in Innsbruck. Mikey rides in the memory of his father, who he lost to cancer in October 2014.

At the 2015–16 FIS Snowboard World Cup, Ciccarelli won the slopestyle title with a winning score of 95.50 at the tour opener in Stoneham, Quebec. [2] "It's been a long time coming," Ciccarelli said afterwards. "I've been working pretty hard to get tricks down. It felt good to go clean through the whole course today. After the first run I knew there was still room for some improvement." [3]

At the Burton U.S. Open 2017, Ciccarelli finished second to fellow Canadian Mark McMorris while Sven Thorgren of Sweden was third. [4] It was the first U.S. Open podium finish for Ciccarelli. "It's crazy, I can't believe it. To put that [cab triple cork 1620 melon] down in my run, it all came together," Ciccarelli said in a release from Snowboard Canada. "I didn't even really feel too much pressure, I just wanted to put a run down and I'm just so stoked." [5]

Jonathan Cheever is an American snowboarder. He is an athlete on the U.S. Snowboarding's SBX A Team. In 2011, he was named the U.S. snowboarding champion and took two World Cup 2nd-place finishes at Stoneham Mountain Resort in Quebec and Chiesa in Valmalenco in Italy. Becoming the second American male ever in his discipline to win the world cup. In 2011, he was ranked third in the world in snowboard cross (SBX). Still no U.S. man has won a FIS World Cup title in SBX.

The 2013–14 FIS Snowboard World Cup is a multi race tournament over a season for snowboarding. The World Cup was organised by the FIS which also runs world cups and championships in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, and freestyle skiing. The FIS Snowboarding World Cup consisted of the parallel slalom, snowboard cross and the halfpipe. The men's side of the world cup also consisted of a big air competition.

Patrick Burgener, better known as Pat Burgener, is a Swiss professional snowboarder, two-time Olympian and musician. Pat joined the Swiss national team at the age of 14 and landed the world’s first Switch Backside Triple Cork 1440 in April 2011. Pat competed for Switzerland in the men's halfpipe at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang where he finished 5th overall. He earned two bronze medals in the halfpipe events at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2017 and again in 2019. Pat was named to his second Swiss Olympic Snowboard Freestyle Team on 18 January 2022. He represented Switzerland in the men’s halfpipe at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing where he qualified for the finals and placed 11th overall. His career results include also nine World Cup podiums, five European Cup podiums and seven Swiss Champion titles respectively in halfpipe and early on in big air.

The men's big air competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 15 February (final), at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing. Su Yiming of China won the event, his first Olympic gold medal. Mons Røisland of Norway won silver, his first Olympic medal, and Max Parrot of Canada won bronze.

The women's big air competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 15 February (final), at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing. Anna Gasser of Austria won the event, successfully defending her 2018 title. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott of New Zealand won the silver medal, and Kokomo Murase of Japan bronze, her first Olympic medal.

The women's slopestyle competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 5 February (qualification) and 6 February (final), at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou.
