Sylke Otto is a former German luger who competed from 1991 to 2007. Competing in three Winter Olympics, she won the gold medal in the women's singles event in 2002 and 2006.
Venezuela sent a delegation to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy from 10 to 26 February 2006. This was the third time Venezuela had competed at a Winter Olympic Games. The Venezuelan delegation consisted of one luge athlete, Werner Hoeger. He finished 32nd in his only event, the men's singles.

Gerda Weissensteiner OMRI is an Italian luger and bobsleigh pilot who competed from the late 1980s to 2006. Competing in six Winter Olympics, she won the gold medal in the women's singles luge event at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, and together with Jennifer Isacco she won the bronze in Turin in the two-woman bobsleigh at the 2006 Winter Olympics. She was the first Italian sportsperson to win Olympic medals in two disciplines.
Werner Walter Karl Hoeger is a former luge athlete who competed for Venezuela at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2006 Winter Olympics. His son is Chris Hoeger. He is a professor emeritus (active) of exercise science at Boise State University and author of nine different "fitness & wellness" textbooks. He has written a total of 68 editions of these books. He is one of the most widely read fitness and wellness college authors in the United States. He was the first author to write a college-level fitness book to incorporate the wellness concept with the publication of Lifetime Physical Fitness & Wellness: A Personalized Program in 1986. His title Fitness & Wellness is a concise book for introductory courses and for the general public that provides the necessary guidelines to enhance health and quality of life through a comprehensive fitness and wellness program. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and also of the Research Consortium of AAHPERD. A gymnast in his youth, he later took up the sport of luge and participated in two Olympic Winter Games. Following his Olympic participation he turned his attention to racing in track and field, competing in three World Masters Track and Field Championships.
Alex Gough is a retired Canadian luger who competed between 2002 and 2018. Gough is a two-time Olympic luge medalist winning bronze in women's and silver in the team relay at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She was the first Canadian to win a luge medal at the Olympics. Gough won a bronze medal in the women's singles event at the FIL World Luge Championships 2011 in Cesana, the first ever for a Canadian woman and only the second overall. Gough has won a total of six World Championship medals, two bronze in women's singles and a silver and three bronze in the mixed team relay events.
Helene "Leni" Thurner is an Austrian luger who competed during the 1960s. She won the bronze medal in the women's singles event at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. She also competed at the 1968 Winter Olympics.
Anke Wischnewski is a German former luger who has competed since 2001 to 2014. She won two medals in the women's singles at the FIL World Luge Championships with a silver in 2007 and a bronze in 2005.
Rebecca "Becky" Wilczak is an American luger who competed in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She won the bronze medal in the mixed team event at the 2001 FIL World Luge Championships in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Anna Orlova is a retired Latvian luger who competed at six Winter Olympics between 1992 and 2010. She won the silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2003 FIL World Luge Championships in Sigulda, Latvia and finished fourth in the women's singles event at those same championships.
Sarah Podorieszach is a Canadian-Italian luger who has competed since 2001 and for Italy since 2005. She finished 11th in the women's singles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
Liliya Anatoliyvna Ludan is a Ukrainian luger who has competed since 1985. Competing at the Winter Olympics, she earned her best finish of sixth in the women's singles event both in 2002 and in 2006. Ludan is a member of the Kolos Sports Society.

Tīruma also won a gold medal in the mixed team relay event at the 2008 FIL European Luge Championships in Cesana, Italy and finished seventh in the women's singles event at those same championships. Competing in three Winter Olympics, she earned her best finish of ninth in the women's singles event at Vancouver in 2010.

Hannah Campbell-Pegg is an Australian Luge athlete who has competed since 2004. Competing in two Winter Olympics, she finished 23rd in the women's singles event twice (2006, 2010. Campbell-Pegg qualified with little experience in the sport for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games becoming Australia's 3rd athlete to ever do so behind Diane Ogle and Roger White.
Christian Elza Niccum is a retired American luger who has competed since 1996 on the World Cup tour. He was the alternate in 1998, coached for Canada in 2002, finished 23rd in the men's singles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Four years later in Vancouver, he finished sixth in the men's doubles event. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia he finished 6th as part of the US team in the team relay and finished 11th in the doubles with Jayson Terdiman.
Verónica María Ravenna is an Argentine luger. She competed in the women's singles event at the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
