Mid- Wicket Tales with Naseeruddin Shah is an Indian television Hindi entertainment cricket based show which aired on the Epic Channel. [1] The show is hosted by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. In his own versatile narrative style, Shah explores the many interesting untold stories of Indian cricket. [2] It is now available on EPIC ON, EPIC TV's streaming platform.

Show summary

‘Mid-Wicket Tales with Naseeruddin Shah’ takes viewers on a journey of many untold stories of Indian cricket. [3] Naseeruddin Shah, a distinguished Bollywood actor and theatre person, brings alive the experiences on-screen through his unique story-telling. Each episode covers various aspects and attributes of the game interspersed with trivia and anecdotes.

The show takes on several themes in each episode like captains, fast bowlers, spinners, wicket-keepers, glamour and more. The show captures many personalities narrating cricketing experiences and stories including Sharmila Tagore on Tiger Pataudi, Shashi Tharoor, Nari Contractor, Bishan Singh Bedi, Charu Sharma among others. Some of the cricketers featured on the show are Tiger Pataudi, Kapil Dev, Vijay Hazare, Syed Kirmani, Ravi Shastri, Farookh Engineer and M S Dhoni. [4]

Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan ( is an Indian former cricketer. He captained the Indian cricket team at the first two ICC Cricket World Cups, and later became an umpire on the elite International Cricket Council Test panel. His Test career was one of the longest for any Indian player. He also played for Derbyshire in English county cricket from 1973 to 1975. A qualified engineer and an alumnus of Chennai's famed College of Engineering, Guindy, he is a recipient of the civilian honour of Padma Shri in 2003. He received the C. K. Nayudu Award in 2004, the highest honour bestowed by BCCI on a former player.

Subhashchandra Pandharinath "Fergie" Gupte was one of Test cricket's finest spin bowlers. Sir Garry Sobers, EAS Prasanna and Jim Laker pronounced him the best leg spinner they had seen.

Naseeruddin Shah is an Indian actor. He is notable in Indian parallel cinema. He has also starred in international productions. He has won numerous awards in his career, including three National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards and the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awards for his contributions to Indian cinema. He is widely regarded as one of the finest actors in the World Cinema.

Syed Abid Ali is a former all-rounder Indian cricketer. He was a lower order batsman and a medium pace bowler. He played an important role in Indian cricket in the 1960s and 70s.

The Indian national cricket team toured England in the 1946 season and played 29 first-class fixtures with 11 wins, 4 defeats and 14 draws. The 1946 season marked a return to normal first-class cricket in England following the end of World War II. The Test series between England and India was the first to be played in England since the West Indies tour in 1939. England won the series 1–0 with two matches drawn, their success largely due to the impact of debutant Alec Bedser who took 22 wickets in his first two Tests.

The Indian cricket team toured England in the 1967 season and played 18 first-class fixtures, winning only two, losing 7 and drawing 9.

The Australia national cricket team toured Ceylon and India in the last three months of 1969. The team, captained by Bill Lawry, played five Test matches against India, captained by the Nawab of Pataudi Jr. The Australians also played first-class matches versus each of the five Indian Zone teams: Central, North, West, East and South. In Ceylon, they played one first-class game against Ceylon and three minor matches. Australia won the Test series in India 3–1 with one match drawn. It was to be Australia's last Test series win in India until Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist's side's victory in the 2004-05 series.

Ravichandran Ashwin is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian cricket team. Nawab Mohammad Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was an Indian cricketer and a former captain of the Indian cricket team.

The New Zealand cricket team toured India in the 1964-65 cricket season. They played four Test matches against the Indian cricket team, with India winning one match and the other three being drawn.

The India national cricket team toured the West Indies during the 1970–71 cricket season. They played five Test matches against the West Indian cricket team, with India winning the series 1–0.

The Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi Memorial Lecture was inaugurated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 6 February 2013. It was established to honour the former Indian captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who died in 2011. The inaugural Lecture was delivered by former captain of the Indian cricket team Sunil Gavaskar on 20 February 2013, at the Taj Coromandel hotel in Chennai. The BCCI indicated that the lecture would be an annual event.
