Education and extracurriculars
The school was open to students of all faiths who were seeking an independent, co-educational, college preparatory high school in the Northern Virginia area. Of the twenty-seven full-time members of faculty, seventeen held one or more advanced degrees, with five holding PhDs. Advanced placement (AP) courses were offered in all academic disciplines.
Students participated in a variety of clubs and organizations, such as Green Club, Spirit Club, Yearbook, Student Council, and the Varsity Club. All students were required to have been accepted into one four-year accredited college, pass all classes in their senior year, and fulfill an annual mandatory twenty-five hour community service prerequisite in order to graduate.
Each student was assigned to an Advisory group, which was a group of ten to twelve students and one faculty member which met twice a week. The faculty member acted as a liaison to parents for information about upcoming school activities and as a first point of contact when students needed guidance.
Mary Baldwin University is a private university in Staunton, Virginia. It was founded in 1842 as Augusta Female Seminary. Today, Mary Baldwin University is home to the Mary Baldwin College for Women, a residential women's college with a focus on liberal arts and leadership, as well as co-educational residential undergraduate programs within its University College structure. MBU also offers co-educational graduate degrees as well as undergraduate degree and certificate programs for non-traditional-aged students.
Hebron Academy, founded in 1804, is a small, independent, college preparatory boarding and day school for boys and girls in grades six through postgraduate in Hebron, Maine.
The White Mountain School, often called White Mountain or WMS, is a co-educational, independent boarding school located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, United States. Established in 1886 as St. Mary's School in Concord, New Hampshire, the school moved to its current location in 1936, situated just north of the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Morgan Park Academy (MPA) is a coeducational, college preparatory, independent day school serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It is located in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1873, Morgan Park Academy was formerly known as Mt. Vernon Military Academy, Morgan Park Military Academy (MPMA), briefly as the Illinois Military Academy, and Morgan Park Academy of the University of Chicago. Between 1892 and 1906 MPA had a very close connection with the University of Chicago, with its graduates being specifically groomed to enter the recently founded university.
Boys' Latin School of Maryland is an all-boys, university-preparatory school located in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1844, it is the oldest independent, nonsectarian secondary school in the state of Maryland. The school is divided into Lower, Middle and Upper Schools. There are approximately 640 students in kindergarten through twelfth grades.
Carson Long Military Academy in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania was the oldest continually operating college preparatory boarding school and military academy in the United States with mandatory military training for boys in grades 6-12. Maximum enrollment was approximately 235 student cadets. The school has left a great legacy behind, having been considered one of the best military boarding schools throughout its time.
Chatham Hall is a grades 9-12 girls' boarding school in Chatham, Virginia, United States. Founded in 1894 as Chatham Episcopal Institute, Chatham Hall’s mission is to equip curious thinkers to lead lives of impact.
The Emma Willard School, originally called Troy Female Seminary and often referred to simply as Emma, is an independent university-preparatory day and boarding school for young women, located in Troy, New York, on Mount Ida, offering grades 9–12 and postgraduate coursework. Between 2016-2020, four or more students matriculated to Cornell, Columbia, University of Chicago, Georgetown, Brown, Barnard, Carnegie Mellon, Washington University in St Louis and NYU.
The Potomac School is coeducational, college-preparatory independent day school located on a wooded 90-acre campus in McLean, Virginia, United States, three miles (5 km) from Washington, D.C. Average class size is 15-17 students. For the 2021-22 school year, Potomac enrolled 1,066 students in grades K-12. The school has four divisions – Lower School, Middle School (4-6), Intermediate School (7-8), and Upper School (9-12) – each providing a balanced educational experience.
The Episcopal Academy, founded in 1785, is a private, co-educational school for grades Pre-K through 12 based in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Prior to 2008, the main campus was located in Merion and the satellite campus was located in Devon. The Newtown Square facility is on a 123-acre (0.50 km2) campus. Episcopal Academy has been consistently ranked as a top private school in the nation by various media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal. The Academy is affiliated with the Episcopal Church in the United States of America.
King's Academy is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 7 through 12 in Madaba-Manja, Jordan. It is named in honor of King Abdullah II of Jordan and seeks to fulfill His Majesty's vision of producing "a new generation of enlightened and creative minds." King Abdullah attended high school at Deerfield Academy in the United States as there was no school of comparable standing in Jordan when he was a boy, but his son Crown Prince Hussein enrolled in the new school's second incoming class (2008). The school's first headmaster, Dr. Eric Widmer, was a past headmaster of Deerfield.
St. George's School is an independent boarding and day university-preparatory school for boys, founded in 1930 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Oakcrest School is an independent liberal arts school for girls grades 6–12 located in Vienna, Virginia. It is guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei.
Shenandoah Valley Academy (SVA) is a private, co-educational, boarding, high school in New Market, Virginia, United States. It has both boarding and day school programs serving approximately 250 students in grades 9 through 12. The campus is located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, approximately 90 minutes west of Washington, DC. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools. It is a member of the Virginia Council for Private Education. The school was founded in 1908, with its first students enrolling that fall and graduated its first senior class in the spring of 1911.
New Hall School is a Catholic co-educational independent boarding and day school in the village of Boreham in the City of Chelmsford, Essex, England. It was founded in 1642 in the Low Countries, now Belgium, by sisters of the Catholic order Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre and moved to its current location, the former Tudor Palace of Beaulieu in Essex, in 1799. It is the only Catholic Independent school in the Brentwood diocese, and one of the olders and largest in the country.
Middlesex School is a coeducational, non-sectarian, day and boarding independent secondary school for grades 9-12 located in Concord, Massachusetts. It was founded as an all-boys school in 1901 by a Roxbury Latin School alumnus, Frederick Winsor, who headed the school until 1937. Middlesex began admitting girls in 1974. The school is a member of the prestigious Independent School League and is one of five schools collectively known as St. Grottlesex.
Rolling Hills Country Day School is a nonsectarian independent Kindergarten to Grade 8 school located in Rolling Hills Estates on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles County, California. More specifically it is located in the area of Palos Verdes known as Rolling Hills Estates.

Meadowbrook is located on a 26-acre campus in Weston, Massachusetts, enrolls approximately 300 students, and employs 76 faculty and staff. The faculty:student ratio is 1:7.
The Gunston School is an independent, nonprofit, nonsectarian, coeducational, college preparatory high school located in Centreville, Maryland. It was founded in 1911 by Sam and Mary Middleton as The Gunston Farm School. Gunston draws students from seven Maryland counties - Queen Anne's, Kent, Talbot, Dorchester, Anne Arundel, Cecil, and Caroline - and Delaware. There is also a large international student population that resides near the school with host families from the community.
