Michael C. Bright is an American former college basketball player. He played at Bucknell University between 1989 and 1993, where he set numerous school records and was the 1993 Patriot League Player of the Year. [1]

College career

A native of Monessen, Pennsylvania, Bright led Monessen High School to a state championship before he enrolled at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia, for a postgraduate year prior to enrolling in college. [2] Bright chose to play basketball at Bucknell, a Patriot League school in his home state. [2] During his four seasons he scored 1,670 points (third highest in school history at the time of his graduation) and recorded 834 rebounds – just one of two Bucknell players in the 1,500-point, 800-rebound club at the time. [3] During his sophomore season in 1990–91, Bright earned an All-Patriot League second-team honor after averaging 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. [4] [5] Then, during his junior and senior seasons, he was a key player that saw Bucknell win back-to-back regular season conference championships. [1] [4] In 1992–93, Bright's final collegiate season, he averaged 16.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, was a first-team All-Patriot League selection, and was named the league's player of the year. [4] [6] He was also the winner of the Christy Mathewson Award as the top senior-athlete at Bucknell. [2] In 2013, Bright was inducted into Bucknell's Hall of Fame. Professional career and later life

Bright went undrafted in the 1993 NBA draft. He instead competed in Hong Kong's top professional league and played for the Sea Power. [3] He was also selected in the third round of the 1993 Continental Basketball Association draft by the Rockford Lightning. [2] Since 2011 he has served as the President/CEO of the YMCA of Newark, New Jersey. [2]

Sid Jamieson is an American former lacrosse coach. He is the only Native American head coach in the history of NCAA Division I lacrosse. He was Bucknell University's initial head coach for the men's college lacrosse team, serving from the inception of the program in 1968 until his retirement in 2005. Jamieson coached the Bison to 24 wins in the program's first 28 games, including upset wins over established programs at large schools like Penn State, Delaware and Villanova. He accomplished this with teams composed entirely of un-recruited walk on players. He ended his Bucknell coaching career with 248 wins to rank 15th among all Division I collegiate lacrosse coaches in victories. Jamieson led the Bison to seven championships in three different conferences, including four straight Patriot League titles from 2000 to 2003 despite being a non-scholarship program. He led the Bison to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship for the first time in school history in 2001. In 1988 he coached the North team to a win the USILA North-South All Star game. In 1994 he took the team on a two-week tour of Japan for the International Lacrosse Friendship Games. As a result of that tour, Taro Yoshitome came from Japan to play lacrosse at Bucknell and was twice selected to the All Conference first team. Jamieson coached 19 All Americans and 13 players who were invited to play in the north–south lacrosse game. 111 of his players earned All Conference distinction.

The Bucknell Bison are the athletic teams that represent Bucknell University. The program is a member of the Patriot League for most NCAA Division I sports and Division I FCS in football.

Charles R. Woollum is the former head coach for the Bucknell Bison men's basketball team from 1975 to 1994. During his 19 years at the program's helm, Woollum compiled a 318–221 record. This victory total is higher than that of any other coach in any one sport in Bucknell's intercollegiate athletic history. The Bison reached the NCAA Tournament in 1987 and 1989 by winning the East Coast Conference Tournament. Woollum also won six regular season conference titles, three ECC and one Patriot League Coach of the Year awards, coached 27 all-conference players, three league players of the year, six Academic All-Americans and all seven of the top scorers in school history. He was inducted into the Bucknell Hall of Fame in 1995.

He also had a professional basketball career for eight years following college. Lopez played the center position and set a number of Fordham records for blocks. In 2015 he was selected to the Patriot League Men's Basketball 25th Anniversary Team.

Patrick C. King is a German former basketball player who spent nine years playing professionally after a standout collegiate career at Bucknell University. He also represented Germany's senior national team at the 1994 FIBA World Championship and at the 1995 EuroBasket.

Timothy S. Szatko is an American former basketball player. He played college basketball at Holy Cross between 1999 and 2003. He was a two-time first-team all-conference selection, the 2001 Patriot League Player of the Year, and the 2002 Patriot League tournament MVP. He had a brief stint playing professionally following his time at Holy Cross.
