"Mile in These Shoes" is a song recorded by American singer Jennifer Lopez for her sixth studio album Brave (2007).
Following the release of her first Spanish-language album Como Ama una Mujer (2007), Lopez began working on her sixth studio album, which she confirmed would return her to the pop, R&B and hip-hop music of her previous English studio album Rebirth (2005); promising fans "dance-able music". [1] The album was later announced to be Brave. Of the concept behind the album, Lopez stated: "When I was making the music and listening to it, I realized I am looking at my own experiences, and to me that is a very brave thing to do, to put that out there. This is what I've been about, not just in love and relationships, but also in life. Not being afraid, just going for it". [2] "Mile in These Shoes", one of the songs on the album, was used for promotion for the popular American ABC television series Desperate Housewives . [2]
"Mile in These Shoes" is sung by Lopez through a nasal vocal tone. [3] The song's lyricism refers to Lopez's her hardships as a celebrity; she sings lines such as "Honey, these pumps are too big to fill" and "My strut's so fierce" [4] over a syncopated electronic melody. It has been noted by The New York Post to be an autobiographical song. [5] PopMatters noted the track to autobiographical to be "rock-etched". [6]
Despite never being issued as an official single, "Mile in These Shoes" experienced strong digital downloads in Finland, resulting in a debut on the Finnish Singles Chart at number 20 for the week beginning April 13, 2008. [7] The following week, the song peaked at number 16, before falling out of the chart the next week. [7] In addition, "Mile in These Shoes" spent over four weeks on the Official Finnish Download List, where it peaked at number 14. [8] In fact, the song performed better in Finland than Brave's lead single, "Do It Well". [9]
Joey Guerra of The Houston Chronicle praised the song and stated that Lopez "keeps the eye-rolling at bay with her slinky delivery of the tongue-in-cheeky lyrics", noting the track to be a "requisite poor-me, diva declaration". [4] Dan Aquilante of the New York Post also positively reviewed the song, stating that it is one of the "winner" tracks on Brave, with lyrics that project Lopez's "tough broad" attitude. [5] Mike Joseph of the website PopMatters, however, on the other hand gave the song negative feedback, labeling it "embarrassing". [6]

J.Lo is the second studio album by American singer Jennifer Lopez. It was released on January 16, 2001, by Epic Records. Lopez began recording the album in April 2000, enlisting producers such as Cory Rooney, Troy Oliver, Dan Shea and Sean Combs, all of whom she had worked with on her debut album On the 6 (1999). The album's title refers to the nickname given to her by fans, with Lopez describing it as an homage to her supporters. Drawing from her own experiences, Lopez included more personal songs on this album, which deals with themes of relationships, empowerment and sex. J.Lo is a primarily dance-pop, Latin and R&B album which encompasses Latin pop, retro and contemporary pop.
"Play" is a song recorded by American singer Jennifer Lopez for her second studio album, J.Lo (2001). It was released on March 20, 2001, as the album's second single. The song was written by Cory Rooney, Christina Milian, Arnthor Birgisson and Anders Bagge, with production done by the latter two under their production name, Bag & Arnthor. A dance-pop track, it was noted for its funky vibe, compared to the works of Madonna by critics. Over an electric guitar and a funky beat, Lopez sings about pleading a DJ to play her favorite song.

An upbeat dance and R&B song with jazz and funk influences, "Get Right" marks a departure in Lopez's musical style, and has been called one of her most "memorable" songs by The New York Times. It is built around a sample of "Soul Power 74" by Maceo and the Macks, and was noted for its heavy use of saxophone and horn instrumentation. The song contains lyrics about dancing, sex and drinking at a club. American rapper Fabolous is featured on a separate version of the song which is present as a bonus track on Rebirth. American singer Jennifer Lopez has released nine studio albums, one remix album, three compilation albums, one soundtrack, one extended play, 66 singles, five charity singles and 13 promotional singles. As of 2022, the singer has sold more than 80 million records with 15 billion streams worldwide. She made her chart debut in May 1999 with "If You Had My Love", which topped the charts in six countries, including the United States. It was followed by the release of her debut studio album, On the 6 (1999), which reached the top five in several countries and produced four additional singles, including the international hit "Waiting for Tonight". The simultaneous release of her second studio album, J.Lo, and the film, The Wedding Planner, in January 2001, made Lopez the first entertainer to have a number one film and album in the United States in the same week. Originally written about a cheerful fish swimming freely in the ocean, the song's title is an onomatopoeic phrase suggesting the palpitating heartbeat of a person lovestruck by the object of their affection. Brave is the sixth studio album by American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez. It was released on October 4, 2007, by Epic Records. Inspired by her marriage with Marc Anthony and taking influences by Jamiroquai and Sade, Brave features prominently samples from 1970s songs, and R&B music. Brave sees Lopez working with new collaborators, such as Ryan Tedder, Midi Mafia, J.R. Rotem, Bloodshy, Lynn & Wade LLP, The Clutch and others, while also working with long-time collaborator Cory Rooney throughout the album.
