Milford Hakin is the name of an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, Wales. [1] It covers the Hakin area of the Milford Haven community, to the west of Milford Haven Docks. It elects a councillor to Pembrokeshire County Council and three councillors to Milford Haven Town Council. [2]

According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the ward was 2,239 (with 1,817 of voting age). [3]

Prior to 1996 the ward for elections to Dyfed County Council was simply called Hakin. [4]

County elections

At the May 2012 and May 2017 election the sitting Independent councillor Mike Stoddart successfully defended his seat. His wife Viv Stoddart won the neighbouring Milford Hubberston seat. [5]

Milford Haven Human settlement in Wales

Milford Haven is a town and community in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is situated on the north side of the Milford Haven Waterway, an estuary forming a natural harbour that has been used as a port since the Middle Ages. Founded in 1790 by Sir William Hamilton, designed to a grid pattern, it was originally intended to be a whaling centre, though by 1800 it was developing as a Royal Navy dockyard which it remained until the dockyard was transferred to Pembroke in 1814. Hakin is a coastal village in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It belongs to the parish of Hubberston in the historical hundred of Roose. It is located directly to the west of the larger town of Milford Haven, and is a district of the community of Milford Haven It had a population of 2,313 inhabitants in 2001 and is mainly residential.

The first elections to Pembrokeshire County Council was held on 4 May 1995. It was followed by the 1999 election. On the same day there were elections to the other 21 local authorities in Wales and community councils in Wales.
