The Military Academy (AM; Academia Militar in Portuguese) is a Portuguese military establishment, which has the ability to confer educational qualifications equivalent to a university. It develops activities of teaching, research and support for the communities with the purpose of training and forming officers for the Portuguese Army and the Republican National Guard.

The Military Academy has this designation since 1959, but the first such establishment occurred in 1640 when the Military Higher Education was created.

Currently, the Portuguese Military Academy is located in two different barracks, a main one in Lisbon's Bemposta Palace and a detachment in Amadora.

The Portuguese Armed Forces are the military of Portugal. They include the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the other unified bodies and the three service branches: Portuguese Navy, Portuguese Army and Portuguese Air Force.

The Federal University of Minas Gerais is a federal research university located in the state of Minas Gerais. Its main and biggest campus is located at the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. It is one of Brazil's five largest and best universities, being the largest federal university. It offers 79 undergraduate education programs, upon completion of their curricular schedule the student is awarded either a Bachelor's degree, a Licenciate degree, or a Professional title, all officialized by the issue of a University Diploma. It also has 90 postgraduate education programs, awarding 30 postbaccalaureate specialization degrees, 92 Master's degrees, and 72 Doctoral degrees, as well as 41 medical residency programs offered at UFMG's hospital facilities complexes. The Federal Rural University of the Semi-arid Region, mostly known as UFERSA, in Brazil, was created on August 1, 2005 by Law No 11.155, which transformed the Superior School of Agronomy of Mossoró (ESAM) into a Federal University.
