The Ministry of Energy and Minerals was the government ministry of Tanzania responsible for facilitating the development of the energy and mineral sectors. [1]

The Ministry was ultimately split in 2017 [2] by President John Magufuli to tighten supervision on the two industries. [3]

Tanzanite is the blue and violet variety of the mineral zoisite, caused by small amounts of vanadium. Tanzanite belongs to the epidote mineral group. Tanzanite is only found in Simanjiro District of Manyara Region in Tanzania, in a very small mining area near the Mererani Hills.

Kivukoni Ward of Ilala District, Dar es Salaam

Kivukoni is an administrative ward located in Ilala District, Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. Kivikoni's name come from the Swahili word meaning "a crossing place". The ward is bordered by Upanga East ward to the west, Kisutu ward to the southwest, and Kigamboni ward across the Kivukoni channel. The ward covers an area of 2.387 km2 (0.922 sq mi). Kivukoni ward is one of the most important wards in the country, as it is home to the Ikulu, which is the home of the president of Tanzania. Kivukoni ward is also home to the National Museum of Tanzania. According to the 2012 census, the ward had a total population of 6,742.

TANESCO

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) is a Tanzanian parastatal organisation established in 1964. It is wholly owned by the government of Tanzania. The Ministry of Energy and Minerals regulates the operations of TANESCO.

Energy in Uganda

Burning of renewable resources provides approximately 90 percent of the energy in Uganda, though the government is attempting to become energy self-sufficient. While much of the hydroelectric potential of the country is untapped, the government decision to expedite the creation of domestic petroleum capacity coupled with the discovery of large petroleum reserves holds the promise of a significant change in Uganda's status as an energy-importing country.

Kikwete Cabinet

The Kikwete Cabinet was formed by President Jakaya Kikwete after taking the oath of office on 21 December 2005. Kikwete had won a landslide victory in the 2005 presidential election receiving 80.2 percent of the popular vote. His inaugural cabinet had seven women ministers, the highest in the nation's history.

Mining industry of Tanzania

Tanzania is a land rich in minerals. Mining makes up more than 50% of the country's total exports, of which a large part comes from gold. The country has gold reserves of 10 million ounces, generating revenue of over a billion USD. Diamonds are also found in significant amounts. Since it was opened in 1940, the Williamson diamond mine has produced 19 million carats (3,800 kg) of diamonds. Gemstones, nickel, copper, uranium, kaolin, titanium, cobalt and platinum are also mined in Tanzania. Illegal mining and corruption are ongoing problems. In 2017, the government passed a series of bills aimed at increasing revenue from minerals after a scandal which caused the dismissal of the Minister for Energy and Minerals.

Magufuli cabinet

The Magufuli Cabinet was formed by President of Tanzania John Magufuli after taking the oath of office on 5 November 2015. Magufuli won the 2015 general election with 58% of the vote in a tightly contested race against ex-CCM Chadema rival Edward Lowassa. After being sworn in on 5 November 2015, Magufuli announced his cabinet almost a month later, on 10 December 2015. He reduced the cabinet to 19 ministers from 30 in the previous cabinet. The Second Cabinet's tenure was cut short on 19 March 2021, following the death of President John Magufuli, and the swearing-in of Samia Suluhu Hassan as the new president.

East African Crude Oil Pipeline

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), also known as the Uganda–Tanzania Crude Oil Pipeline (UTCOP), is under construction and intended to transport crude oil from Uganda's oil fields to the Port of Tanga, Tanzania on the Indian Ocean. Once completed, the pipeline will be the longest heated crude oil pipeline in the world. Because of the large scale displacement of communities and wildlife, global environmental groups are protesting its construction and finance. However the protests are not from within th countries themseves, where the citizens will benefit immensly. Othe projects else where are more dangerous and have faced various litigations

Medard Kalemani

Medard Matogolo Kalemani, commonly known as Medard Kalemani, is a Tanzanian lawyer and politician, who served as the Minister of Energy in the Tanzanian cabinet, in 2017-2021. Immediately prior to his appointment to his current cabinet position, he served as Deputy Minister of the combined energy and minerals ministry, which was split into two, with Angellah Kairuki, assuming the mining docket.
