The Oliver Hazard Perry class is a class of guided-missile frigates named after U.S. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, a commander noted for his role in the Battle of Lake Erie. Also known as the Perry or FFG-7 class, the warships were designed in the United States in the mid-1970s as general-purpose escort vessels inexpensive enough to be bought in large numbers to replace World War II-era destroyers and complement 1960s-era Knox-class frigates.

Feridun Bilgin is a Turkish civil servant and politician who served as the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication of Turkey from 7 March to 17 November 2015. Formerly the Undersecretary to the Ministry, Bilgin took over from the Justice and Development Party minister Lütfi Elvan as required by Article 114 of the Turkish constitution. He was one of the founders of the newly founded Future Party in 2019.
Mehmet Habip Soluk is a Turkish politician and civil servant who served as the non-partisan Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication between 8 March 2011 and 6 July 2011 during the final months of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's second government. As the Undersecretary to the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communication, he took over as Minister from Justice and Development Party politician Binali Yıldırım three months before the 2011 general election as required by Article 114 of the Turkish Constitution. He is, formally, of no political affiliation, though this was proven to be untrue when he applied to become a Justice and Development Party (AKP) parliamentary candidate for the June 2015 general election.

He is a Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Kars, having first been elected in the November 2015 general election.
