Mirror Music is the debut solo studio album by American rapper Wordsworth. It was released by Halftooth Records in 2004.
Regarding the album's title, Wordsworth commented: "I felt the songs reflected the emotion, time or period that either I went through, someone next to me went through or somebody that might not even know me went through." [2] He added: "And when I look at people, the audience, and they look at me, I think they see a reflection from me in my music." [2]

Kenny Rodriguez of AllHipHop wrote: "Mirror Music is proof that Words is much more than simply a freestyle MC with clever one-liners." [3] He added: "Without totally immersing himself into the conscious genre, Words successfully jumps from dropping similes to dropping jewels in mid-sentence." [3] Meanwhile, Nathan Rabin of The A.V. Club wrote: "Wordsworth is so good at playing the role of the wisecrack-dispensing smart-ass that it's almost a shame he spends so much of Mirror Music grappling soberly with the challenges of being a socially conscious adult and father." [4] He added: "It's hard to fault an artist for trying to say something meaningful, but Wordsworth might have been better off putting out a funny album with a few serious songs instead of a serious album with a few light moments." Boogie Down Productions was a hip hop group, originally composed of KRS-One, D-Nice, and DJ Scott La Rock. DJ Scott La Rock was murdered on August 27, 1987, five months after the release of BDP's debut album, Criminal Minded. The name of the group, Boogie Down, derives from a nickname for the South Bronx section of The Bronx, one of the five boroughs of New York City. The group pioneered the fusion of dancehall reggae and hip hop music and their debut LP Criminal Minded contained frank descriptions of life in the South Bronx during the late 1980s, thus setting the stage for what would eventually become gangsta rap.
Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, better known by his stage name Nas, is an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and investor. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas has released twelve studio albums, with seven of them certified platinum and multi-platinum in the US.
Vinson Johnson, better known by his stage name Wordsworth, is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York.
Underground hip hop is an umbrella term for hip hop music outside the general commercial canon. It is typically associated with independent artists, signed to independent labels or no label at all. Underground hip hop is often characterized by socially conscious, positive, or anti-commercial lyrics. However, there is no unifying or universal theme – AllMusic suggests that it "has no sonic signifiers". "The Underground" also refers to the community of musicians, fans and others that support non-commercial, or independent music. Music scenes with strong ties to underground hip hop include alternative hip hop and conscious hip hop. Many artists who are considered "underground" today were not always so, and may have previously broken the Billboard charts.
Madvillainy is the debut studio album by American hip hop duo Madvillain, a group consisting of MF Doom (MC) and Madlib (producer). It was released on March 23, 2004 on Stones Throw Records. The Lost Tapes is a compilation album by American rapper Nas. It was released on September 23, 2002, by Ill Will Records and Columbia Records, who wanted to capitalize on what was seen in hip hop music as Nas' artistic comeback the year before.

Illmatic is the debut studio album by American rapper Nas. It was released on April 19, 1994, by Columbia Records. After signing with the label with the help of MC Serch, Nas recorded the album in 1992 and 1993 at Chung King Studios, D&D Recording, Battery Studios, and Unique Recording Studios in New York City. The album's production was handled by DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, L.E.S. and Nas himself. Styled as a hardcore hip hop album, Illmatic features multi-syllabic internal rhymes and inner-city narratives based on Nas' experiences in Queensbridge, New York.
eMC is a hip hop crew composed of rappers Masta Ace, Wordsworth and Stricklin. Punchline was also a member, but he left the group in October, 2014.
Political hip hop is a subgenre of hip hop music that was developed in the 1980s as a way of turning rap music into a call for political and/or social action and a form of social activism. Inspired by 1970s political preachers such as The Last Poets and musician Gil Scott-Heron, Public Enemy was the first predominately political hip-hop group. It has helped to create a new form of social expression for subordinate groups to speak about their exclusions, injustices and lack of power. Political hip-hop is the use of hip hop music to send political messages to inspire action or social change or to convince the listener of a particular worldview. There is no all-encompassing political hip-hop ideology; rather, there are multiple perspectives that range anywhere from Marxism to the values of the Five Percent Nation.

Recording sessions took place from 2002 to 2003, and it was handled by several record producers, including DJ Nasty & LVM, Kanye West, Mo B. Dick, DJ Paul, Juicy J and Ludacris himself. The Southern hip hop album, Chicken-n-Beer is musically similar to Ludacris' previous work, with his use of a fast, highly versatile flow. Some of the songs on the album take a political overtone.
