Tanzania,officially the United Republic of Tanzania,is a country in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region. It borders Uganda to the north;Kenya to the northeast;the Indian Ocean to the east;Mozambique and Malawi to the south;Zambia to the southwest;and Rwanda,Burundi,and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Mount Kilimanjaro,Africa's highest mountain,is in northeastern Tanzania. According to the 2022 national census,Tanzania has a population of nearly 62 million,making it the most populous country located entirely south of the equator.
Zanzibar is an insular semi-autonomous region which united with Tanganyika in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania. It is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean,25–50 km (16–31 mi) off the coast of the African mainland,and consists of many small islands and two large ones:Unguja and Pemba Island. The capital is Zanzibar City,located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre,Stone Town,is a World Heritage Site.

The university became an affiliate of the University of East Africa (UEA) in 1963,shortly after Tanzania gained its independence from the United Kingdom. In 1970,UEA split into three independent universities:Makerere University in Uganda,the University of Nairobi in Kenya,and the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Emmanuel Asajile Mwambulukutu was a Tanzanian politician and diplomat. He was Tanzania's ambassador to South Africa until 2007 when he and his family were brutally attacked.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 31 October 2010. The presidential elections were won by the incumbent Jakaya Kikwete of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi party (CCM),who received 63% of the vote,down from 80% in 2005. Trade between India and Tanzania amounted to 31 billion dollars in 2009–2010 and India is Tanzania's second-largest investor.
Steven Charles Kanumba was a Tanzanian actor and director of Sukuma heritage,born in Shinyanga Region. Kanumba died in 2012 at the age of 28,for which actress Elizabeth Michael was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced two years in prison in November 2017. Over 30,000 people were estimated to have attended his funeral. He was described as "Tanzania's most popular film star",and appeared in Nollywood films.

Liberata Mulamula,(néeRutageruka is a Tanzanian diplomat and politician who served as Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation from April 2021 to October 2022. She was appointed by President Samia Suluhu,on 31 March 2021 and was sworn into office on 1 April 2021.
