Mohammed Bello El-Rufai is a Nigerian politician, currently serving as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, [1] and son to the former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. [2] He was appointed as chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations. [3]
Mohammed Bello El-Rufai was born on 11 January 1988, [4] in Kaduna, Nigeria. He earned his BSc in political science and international relations with a minor in religious studies from Wheaton College, Massachusetts. In 2015, [4] he obtained an MSc in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University. [4]
Bello commenced his career as a manager at Huawei Nigeria, [5] He went into politics during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2015, engaging with the Good Governance Group (3G) and co-founding the Rescue Kaduna Group (RKG), a political action committee, before the 2015 general elections. [5] During this time, he was appointed as the director of youth mobilization for the Buhari Campaign Organization (BCO). [5] He then transitioned from the private sector to serve as senior legislative aide and chief of staff to Senator Uba Sani, the incumbent governor of Kaduna State, from 2019 to 2022. [5] He holds a position as a board member of the Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation (YELF) and is also behind the Hamza El-Rufai Foundation (HELF). [5]
Mohammed Bello El-Rufai is a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC). In February 2023, he entered politics and secured the House of Representatives seat for Kaduna North Federal Constituency with 51,052 votes. [1] In the 10th Assembly, he serves as the chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations. [3]
Bello is the first son of Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 [6] and Hadiza Isma El-Rufai. He is married to Aisha, a daughter of former military administrator for Plateau and Niger States, Colonel Habibu Shuaibu. [7]

Barewa College is a college in Zaria, Kaduna State, northern Nigeria. Founded in 1921 by British governor general Hugh Clifford, it was originally known as Katsina College. It switched its name to Kaduna College in 1938 and to Government College, Zaria in 1949 before settling on Barewa College. It is one of the largest boarding schools in Northern Nigeria and was the most-celebrated post-primary schools there up to the early 1960s. The school is known for the large number of elites from the region who attended and counts among its alumni include Tafawa Balewa who was Prime Minister of Nigeria from 1960 to 1966, four heads of state of Nigeria. The school is located along Gaskiya road in the Tukur -Tukur area of Zaria.

Muktar Ahmed Mohammed Aruwa was a Nigerian senator. He was first elected to the senate in 1999 as a representative of Kaduna State for the All People's Party (APP). Mukhtar Ramalan Yero is a Nigerian politician who served as the governor of Kaduna State from 2012 to 2015, following the death of Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash. He previously served as deputy governor from 2010 to 2012 and as Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance from 2007 to May 2010 when Yakowa named him deputy governor after he succeeded Namadi Sambo who became the vice president of Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Muhammad as Deputy Governor on 15 September 2023. The 2019 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. APC candidate Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai defeated main opposition party PDP's candidate, Isah Ashiru, to emerge winner of the contest. APC was said to have won 14 LGAs, PDP nine.

Incumbent APC Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Senator Uba Sani retained the office for the APC by a margin of less than 1% — under 11,000 votes — over first runner-up and PDP nominee Isa Ashiru, a former member of the House of Representatives.
