Parliamentary positions

The working body of the Parliament - the Standing Bureau - is formed taking into consideration the proportional representation of the factions in the Legislative body. The Chairman and Deputy Chairmen are its ex officio members. The number of members of the Standing Bureau is determined by the Parliament's decision.

Nowadays this function is fulfilled by Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova leader Zinaida Greceanîi.

Serafim Urechean is a Moldovan politician. He held the position of general mayor of Chișinău municipality (1994–2005) and interim prime minister of the Republic of Moldova. He was the chairman of the party Our Moldova Alliance (2003–2011), first deputy chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova (2009–2010) and president of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (2011–2016).

2011–2012 Moldovan presidential election

A presidential election was held in Moldova on 16 December 2011. The president is elected by the parliament in an indirect election. After the election on 16 December failed, a second attempt was made on 15 January 2012. However, that vote was annulled as being unconstitutional since it had not been held in a secret vote. On 16 March, parliament elected Nicolae Timofti as president by 62 votes out of 101, with the PCRM boycotting the election, putting an end to a political crisis that had lasted since April 2009.

The 2013 Moldovan government crisis was a governmental crisis that took place in the Republic of Moldova. It started on 8 March 2013, after the Prime Minister Vlad Filat was dismissed by motion of censure of the Parliament. It ended on 30 May 2013, when Iurie Leancă's cabinet received a successful vote of confidence.

Political Alliance for a European Moldova

The Political Alliance for a European Moldova was the pro-European governing coalition in Moldova from 18 February to 24 July 2015. On 24 July 2015, the Liberal Party (PL) joined a new majority coalition. It was succeeded by the Alliance for European Integration III.
