Monteith railway station was located in the locality of Monteith, about 110 kilometres from Adelaide station.
Monteith station was located between Murray Bridge and Tailem Bend on the Adelaide to Wolseley line. The line opened in stages: on 14 March 1883 from Adelaide to Aldgate, on 28 November 1883 to Nairne, on 1 May 1886 to Bordertown and on 19 January 1887 to Serviceton. [1] After the town was established in 1909, a meeting was held by the residents where it was unanimously decided that a railway station was needed to serve the town. [2] While the townspeople wanted the station at the 66 mile (106 km) mark, SAR opted to build the station at the 68 mile (110 km) mark. [3] The station was opened for passengers on 1 May 1911, and for goods on 2 September 1911. [4] It was still listed as a stopping place in the July 1975 ANR public timetable. The CTC safeworking system was extended from Monarto South to Monteith on 1 November 1983. The station would've been closed before or as a result of AN's cessation of all intrastate passenger services in SA on 31 December 1990. on 2 September 1992, the crossing loop at the station site was closed. A new 1800m crossing loop was opened within the Monteith locality by the line's current owner, ARTC in 2011. [5]

Port Germein is a small sea-side town in the Australian state of South Australia located about 219 kilometres (136 mi) north of the state capital of Adelaide and about 19 kilometres (12 mi) north of the city of Port Pirie on the eastern side of South Australia's Spencer Gulf overlooking Germein Bay. Port Germein was named after Samuel Germein, who moved into the territory in 1840, although some credit his brother John to be the first European to traverse the area. The township was proclaimed in 1878. Port Germein's population in the 2006 census was 249.

The Western standard gauge railway line is a standard-gauge railway line in western Victoria, Australia. Completed in 1995, it forms part of the Melbourne–Adelaide rail corridor and serves as the principal interstate rail link between Victoria and the western states. The line replaced a number of former broad gauge routes which were gauge converted, and today sees both intrastate and interstate freight traffic, as well as the twice weekly The Overland passenger service. Major towns on the route include Geelong, Ararat, Horsham and Dimboola.

Wunkar is a small town in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia. Wunkar was originally a station on the Moorook railway line. The town was surveyed in 1926 after the railway station name was approved in 1925. The railway closed in 1971. Wunkar now lies adjacent to the Stott Highway approximately 27 km west of Loxton. There are bulk grain silos at the former railway station. The school opened in 1925 and closed in 1973.
Winninowie is a locality in the Mid North of South Australia. It is traversed by the Augusta Highway which is part of the Australian National Highway on Highway 1. It includes the intersection of Horrocks Pass Road, also known as Main North Road with the main highway. Winninowie is 21 kilometres (13 mi) southeast of Port Augusta, on the plain between Spencer Gulf on the west and the southern Flinders Ranges on the east.
