Morland Wilson is a Jamaican politician from the Labour Party. He has served as Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Western since being elected in the 2020 Jamaican general election [1] [2]
Wilson was the son of a soldier/farmer and a housewife in Burnt Savannah,attending Samuels Preparatory School and Mannings School before attending the UWI in Kingston. Wilson holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of the West Indies,Mona. [3] He got his early political exposure in the G2K,rising to the rank of Deputy General Secretary.
He worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries,British Council and the European Union principally in the development of programmes and funding for rural and urban enablement,improvement in disenfranchised areas and human rights. [4] [5] [6]
Wilson has served as Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Western since being elected in the 2020 Jamaican general election. [7]
Lisa Rene Shanti Hanna is a Jamaican politician and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World 1993,becoming the third Jamaican to win the title. A member of the opposition People's National Party,Hanna currently serves as Member of Parliament for Saint Ann South East,and was Jamaica's Minister of Youth and Culture from 2012–2016. Hanna was a candidate in the 2020 People's National Party leadership election,following the PNP's defeat at the 2020 Jamaican general election and the subsequent resignation of PNP President and Opposition Leader,Peter Phillips. Hanna was defeated by Mark Golding.
Andrew Michael Holness,is a Jamaican politician who has been the Prime Minister of Jamaica since 3 March 2016,following the 2016 Jamaican general election. Holness previously served as prime minister from October 2011 to 5 January 2012. He succeeded Bruce Golding as prime minister,and decided to go to the polls in the 29 December 2011 general election in an attempt to get his own mandate from the Jamaican electorate. He failed in that bid,however,losing to the People's National Party led by Portia Simpson-Miller,with the PNP gaining 42 seats to the Jamaica Labour Party's 21. Following that defeat,Holness served as Leader of the Opposition from January 2012 to March 2016,when he once again assumed the position of prime minister. In 2020,the Labour Party won a landslide in another general election,and on 7 September Holness was sworn in for another term as prime minister.
Edmund Bartlett is a Jamaican politician who is Member of Parliament for Saint James East Central. He is current Minister of Tourism,having succeeded Wykeham McNeill when the Jamaica Labour Party won the 2016 general elections. Bartlett,a native of the parish of Westmoreland,Jamaica,was educated at St Elizabeth Technical High School,where he was Head Boy,and the University of the West Indies,Mona,where he studied sociology. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and he has served as a minister in Jamaica Labour Party administration since before then. He became the youngest serving member of parliament in 1980.
Kenneth Wykeham McNeill,MD,MP,CD is a Jamaican politician,former Member of Parliament for Westmoreland West,Jamaica. He is a former government minister. He was the Minister of Tourism of Jamaica from 2012 to 2016. He was elected the first vice chair of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization representing Jamaica in 2012 and elected chairman of the Executive council for the 2014-2015 period. McNeill was elected a Vice President of The People's National Party at the Party's annual conference in September 2016.

As the constitution stipulates a five-year parliamentary term,the next elections were not expected until between 25 February and 10 June 2021. However,Prime Minister Andrew Holness called early elections to ensure a united response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On the advice of Holness,Governor General Patrick Allen dissolved Parliament on 13 August 2020.

It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. It was one of the 32 constituencies fixed in the new constitution granted to Jamaica in 1944. Unlike Westmoreland Eastern,which was phased out when the constituency boundaries were redrawn in 1966,this seat remained and has featured in all 16 contested Parliamentary General Elections 1944 to 2016. The MP was Hon. Dr. Wykeham McNeill of the People's National Party from 1997 to 2020.
