Mormond Halt railway station was a railway station near New Leeds, Aberdeenshire. [1]

History

The station was opened as Mormond on 24 April 1865. It was named after Mormond Hill, which was nearby. Its name was changed to Mormond Halt on 1 June 1939. It was reduced to a Saturday only service in 1950 and closed on 2 October 1965. [2]

The Royal Deeside Railway is a Scottish heritage railway located 16 miles west of Aberdeen on part of the original Deeside Railway Line. Formed in 1996 by a group of volunteers, the intention of the group was to reclaim part of the former branch line from Aberdeen to Ballater. Originally constructed between 1853 and 1856 by the Deeside Railway Company, the line was regularly patronised by the Royal Family and other VIP visitors to Balmoral. However, due to its dwindling passenger numbers, the line was eventually closed by British Railways in 1966. After many years of hard work by dedicated volunteers, the first ever steam-hauled passenger services on the newly reclaimed line were operated in 2010.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lonmay</span>

Lonmay is a village and parish in the Buchan area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies along the A90 road, between Peterhead and Fraserburgh, near to the junction with the A952 road at Cortes. The parish, formerly known as St Colms, encompasses the villages of St Combs and Crimond, as well as the village of Lonmay. It had a station on the Formartine and Buchan Railway, but this closed in 1965. The present Lonmay Kirk dates from 1786.

The name changed to Luton Hoo in 1891 and the station closed in 1965.The last passenger train, packed with enthusiasts, was hauled by Brush Type 2 D5589 on 24 April 1965.

Uralite Halt was a halt between Milton Range Halt and Cliffe station on the Hundred of Hoo Railway. Built to serve the British Uralite works, it opened in July 1906 and closed on 4 December 1961. The halt was demolished soon after closure.

Stoke Junction Halt was a halt on the Hundred of Hoo Railway between Middle Stoke Halt and Grain Crossing Halt, it was also at the junction of the line to Allhallows-on-Sea. It was opened on 17 July 1932 and closed on 4 December 1961.

Port Meadow Halt was a railway station on the Varsity Line, between north Oxford and Port Meadow. The London & North Western Railway opened the halt as Summertown on 20 August 1906 and renamed it Port Meadow Halt in January 1907. It was closed between 1 January 1917 and 5 May 1919, and the London, Midland & Scottish Railway permanently closed it on 30 October 1926. It was located on the north side of a footbridge leading from the present-day Aristotle Lane into Port Meadow, close to an occupation crossing which also gave access to the up platform.

Hainton Street Halt was a railway halt on the East Lincolnshire Railway which served the Welholme Road area of Grimsby in Lincolnshire between 1905 and 1961. The station was opened as part of a new motor train service between Grimsby and Louth. The station briefly closed in 1939 as a Second World War economy measure, but reopened in 1940. The line through Hainton Street remained open for freight until December 1980. The trackbed was later reused by Humberside County Council to construct the A16 Peaks Parkway which now runs through the site. Building of the road put an end to the aspirations of the Great Northern and East Lincolnshire Railway plc to reopen the line as a heritage railway.
