Mandhana is a town in the Kanpur district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, situated about 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Kanpur on the Grand Trunk Road to Delhi. As of the 2011 Census of India, the town had 213 households with a population of 993 of which 504 were male and 489 female. It has a 60% literacy rate and is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Chobepur, its sister town. It also falls within the Kanpur metropolitan area. The language commonly spoken is Hindi with accent and tone of Kannauji. The IIT Kanpur is just 7 kilometres from Mandhana and also houses some of the successful alumnus of the institute. Moti Jheel is a lake and drinking water reservoir in the Benajhabar area of Kanpur, which together with its adjoining gardens and children's park is an important tourist attraction. Built during the British Raj, today along with Kamala Retreat and Moti Park, it is an important recreational place in the bustling industrial city of Kanpur, once known as the "Manchester of the East".

The Orange Line is a metro rail line of the Kanpur Metro, a rapid transit system in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The priority section of the line was inaugurated on December 28, 2021, by the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi. This line is the first line of the Kanpur Metro to be operationalized. In the first phase, a 9 km (5.6 mi) section of the route was opened, which is fully elevated. 9 stations were also opened on this priority section of the line as well. The total length of the route will be 23.8 km (14.8 mi) of which 15.2 km (9.4 mi) will be elevated, and 8.6 km (5.3 mi) will be underground. The line will have a total of 21 stations when the entire line is commissioned.
