Byron Manard Chambers [1] (born July 30, 1976), who goes by the stage name Mr. TalkBox, is an American Christian hip hop and Christian R&B musician who plays urban contemporary gospel, contemporary R&B, and funk.

Early life

Chambers was born in Orlando, Florida to parents who were both gospel musicians. [2]

Music career

Chambers music career started in 2004 with the studio album My Testimony that was released by Remnant Sounds [3] in August 2004. [4] The subsequent studio album, The Remixes Animated, was released on April 23, 2008, with Remnant Sounds. [3] He released, My Time, on March 2, 2010, [5] from Save the City Records. [6] [7] Chambers released an extended play, Show Me the Way, on January 29, 2013, with Save the City Records. [8]

During his career, he has also appeared on various Christian Songs charts as a writer and collaborator. Artists like Beckah Shae have charted with songs he has written, and he is featured on charting songs by artists such as TobyMac (stylized as tobyMac or TOBYMAC). [9] He is featured on TobyMac's single "Feel It" from the 2015 album This Is Not a Test . He also performed the talkbox intro to the song "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars, released in October 2016 [10] which was also sampled in Kendrick Lamar's song "LOYALTY.". Chambers appeared on "Mr. Pusher Man", the third track on World Wide Funk by former Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins which was released on October 26, 2017. In November 2017, he appeared on T-Pain's song "May I" from his album Oblivion . On April 17, 2018, Chambers' contributions on the intro of "24K Magic" earned four different Grammy Awards. [11]

In April 2020, Chambers was featured on the Brian Culbertson album XX on the first track and single, "Get Up!".[ citation needed ]

Welcome to Diverse City is the second full-length studio album released by Christian singer TobyMac. The songs on this album deal with racial tolerance in society and a desire to know God better. Several other Christian artists appear on this CD, including Bootsy Collins, Coffee from GRITS, DJ Maj, Papa San, Paul Wright, Superchick, and T-Bone . TobyMac also reunites dc Talk on vocals in a remix of his song "Atmosphere", the last track of the album. The album has sold over 600,000 copies in the United States.

Portable Sounds (stylized as (portable sounds)) is the third full-length studio album from Christian hip hop artist tobyMac. Released on February 20, 2007, the album serves as a follow-up to his 2004 album, Welcome to Diverse City. The album debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200. The album includes the singles "Lose My Soul", "Made to Love", "Boomin'", "I'm for You", and "One World (featuring Siti Monroe)". Portable Sounds took a slightly different direction than tobyMac's previous hip hop efforts, having more of a pop sound. When it was released on iTunes, users were able to download a behind-the-scenes making of the album video, a digital booklet, and an acoustic version of "Made to Love". "Ignition" was selected as the theme song to the WWE pay-per-view Elimination Chamber 2011.

Mars, Philip Lawrence and Christopher Brody Brown wrote the single. Calling themselves Shampoo Press & Curl the three of them handled production, with additional production by the Stereotypes.
