Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah is a Kuwaiti entrepreneur and a notable member of the House of Sabah,the ruling family of Kuwait. He is the founder and chairman of Action Hotels,Action Real Estate and Action Hotels,as well as vice-chairman of their parent family holding company Action Group Holdings. Mubarak was also previously the founding chairman of the Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company until its merger in 2022 with the Kuwait Projects Company (Holding).
Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah is the son of Souad Al-Sabah, [1] an economist,writer and poet,and Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah,the Deputy Emir of Kuwait in the 1950s and the youngest son of Mubarak Al-Sabah. [2]
Mubarak graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He subsequently joined the Kuwait Military Forces where he served as an Armoured Officer. Mubarak later graduated from the University of Buckingham with an undergraduate degree in Politics with Economics. He continued his studies in International Relations,graduating with a Master’s Degree from University of Cambridge. [3]
Mubarak was also the founding chairman of the Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company, [4] a company founded by Amiri Decree in 2004. [5] Following the announcement,in March 2022,of a merger between Qurain and the Kuwait Projects Company (Holding),Mubarak resigned from his position as chairman of Qurain. [4]
In 2006,Mubarak founded Action Hotels which opened its first hotel in Melbourne,Australia. [6] The mid-market hotel company was publicly listed on the Alternative Investment Market in December 2013 with a valuation of £102 million. [7] [8] By the following year,the company owned half a dozen hotels in the Middle East and Australia,with nine additional hotels under construction. [7] [9] As of 2016,most of properties owned by Action Hotels was operated by Ibis under its Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget brands. [6] Mubarak serves as chairman of Action Hotels [10] [1] and holds a majority stake in the company. [11] He is also founder and chairman of Action Real Estate,and vice-chairman of Action Group Holdings,the parent family holding company of both Action Hotels and Action Real Estate. [2] [12]
In March 2017,Christian Nakhla,the French ambassador to Kuwait,conferred Mubarak as a Knight of the Legion of Honor. [13]

Operation Vantage was a British military operation in 1961 to support the newly independent state of Kuwait against territorial claims by its neighbour,Iraq. The UK reacted to a call for protection from Sheikh Abdullah III Al-Salim Al-Sabah of Kuwait,and air,sea and land forces were in place within days. Iraq did not attack and the British forces were replaced by the Arab League. Following a coup in Iraq,the new government recognised Kuwaiti independence in 1963,although it was never ratified thus remained unbinding and was later rejected by the revolutionary command leading to more border disputes in the future.
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was the tenth ruler of the Sheikhdom of Kuwait from 29 March 1921 until his death on 29 January 1950. He was the longest reigning ruler of Kuwait having reigned for a total 28 years and 305 days.

Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was a member of the House of Sabah and one of the first Kuwaitis to attain the military rank of lieutenant general. He was one of the first Kuwaitis to be commissioned as an officer by the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst,UK,and the first Kuwaiti to receive an Amiri Decree for appointment as Chief of the General Staff. Mubarak initiated joint training of Kuwait Armed Forces and United States Armed Forces in 1977 and,the following year,was the first military officer to establish conscription.
The Battle of Al-Regeai or Battle of Atheriyat,acknowledged as the final significant military engagement in the early historical period of Kuwait,occurred on 28 January 1928. It transpired under the rule of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,the 10th ruler of the Sheikhdom of Kuwait. Marking a technological milestone,the battle featured the first utilisation of vehicles in Kuwaiti combat. The conflict was instigated by an Ikhwan raid against Kuwaiti farmers at Umm Al-Ruweisat,situated northwest of Al Jahra. Approximately five hundred Ikhwan horsemen launched the attack,leading to the occupation of the farms.
The General Staff H.Q. of the Kuwait Army redesignated in 1953 following formation in 1949,is a management department of the Kuwait Armed Forces,the national military of the State of Kuwait. The Chief of the General Staff is the senior combat military officer governing doctrines of the Kuwait Army,the Kuwait Air Force and the Kuwait Naval Force,but excludes the Kuwait National Guard,the Kuwait Police and Kuwait Fire Service Directorate. He is appointed by the Kuwait Defense Minister,a deputy prime minister,who is appointed by the Prime Minister of Kuwait;the latter appointed by the Emir of Kuwait,the Commander-in-chief of the Military of Kuwait.
