Mullanpur Garibdass is a town in Mohali district in the Indian state of Punjab, north of the city of Mohali and Chandigarh. Garibdas village is located in vicinity of this town. [1]
This town was founded by Garibdass, a commander of king Hathnoria Raja. The full name of the town is "Mullanpur Garibdass Da". Legend has it that Jayanti Devi, the Roop of Durga, asked Garibdass to fight against the cruel King to save civilians. Garibdass won the war and founded Mullanpur as the first village of his empire.
As of 2001 [update] India census, [2] Mullanpur Garibdass had a population of 6143. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Mullanpur- Garibdas has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 67%. In Mullanpur- Garibdas, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. As of 2011 Census of India, 51.27 percent of residents are Sikhs and 46.20% are Hindus. [3] Greater Mohali Area Development Authority has a low-density residential scheme in this town. [4]

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium is an international cricket stadium in town. It is the new home venue of Punjab Kings in IPL. The stadium is named after Yadavindra Singh, who played one Test for India in 1934. [6] The stadium, which has hosted domestic matches for the last couple of years, comprises all the modern facilities and infrastructure, and can host a capacity of 33,000 people [7] . There was also plan of Government of Punjab to develop a golf course on 150 hectare in Mullanpur as well as spa village would also be built apart from a turf club with Indoor and outdoor stadiums which will be built there along with a lifestyle sports hub. The Punjab cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents the Indian state of Punjab. They have qualified for only one Ranji Trophy semi-final in the last five seasons and made it to the final in the 2004–05 tournament, where they lost to Railways in the first innings. They also play in other domestic cricket tournaments in India. They have only been winners of the Ranji Trophy once, in the 1992–93 season.

The franchise is jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul. The team plays its home matches at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, although since the 2010 season, they have also played some home matches at Dharamsala and Indore. Kahma is a village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district of Punjab State, India. They are two brothers, Husn Lal and Bhagat Ram. Husn Lal was also a renowned violinist, vocalist and music composer, but his prowess as singer is not commonly known. Bhagat Ram was considered an expert harmonium player.
