Mullingar RFC is a rugby team based in Mullingar, County Westmeath in Ireland. It fields teams in Men's Division 2A of the Leinster League and Women's Leinster Division 2A. The club has three adult teams, as well as youths and "minis" sections. The club's grounds are located at Shay Murtagh Park, Cullion in Mullingar. The club's colours are scarlet and grey jerseys, navy shorts and red socks.[ citation needed ]

Old Wesley Rugby Football Club was founded in 1891 from the past pupils of Wesley College, Dublin. Since then it has become one of Leinster's most famous clubs. It plays in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League. The club won the Leinster Senior Cup in 1909 and 1985 as well as winning the AIL Division 2 title in 1989 and the AIL Division 2A title in 2015. They celebrated their Centenary year in 1991 with a match against a star-studded Barbarians team featuring Internationals such as Eric Rush, Pierre Berbizier and Tony Underwood. They won the eleven-try match in dramatic fashion with a last minute drop-goal to win 37-36.
The O'Byrne Cup is a Gaelic football competition organised by the Leinster GAA and first staged in 1954. The competition has been sponsored by Dioralyte since 2024.

The club also has youths boys and girls teams as well as men's, women's, minis and special needs teams. In 2020 the club finally opened the long anticipated clubhouse. George Thomas Hamlet was a former president of the club who was also president of the IRFU and played rugby for Ireland on 29 occasions. In 1928 Balbriggan won the Leinster Towns Cup defeating Athy.

Donal O'Donoghue is a Gaelic footballer who plays for his local club Mullingar Shamrocks and the Westmeath county team. O'Donoghue joined the panel in 2003 which proved to be less successful as O'Donoghue and his team's neighbours Meath knocked them out of the Leinster Championship before exiting in the qualifiers to Monaghan. The year after proved to be a shock as he won his first Leinster medal under Kerryman Páidí Ó Sé only to be denied in the quarter-final by Derry.
