Edenderry RFC is an Irish rugby team originally based in County Offaly, but now playing in Coolavacoose, Carbury, County Kildare. [1] They play in Division 2A of the Leinster League. The club colours are white and royal blue. [1] Edenderry are also known as the greatest clubs in the midlands area.

History

Edenderry Rugby Football Club were founded in 1951 in Edenderry, County Offaly. [2] They first started playing on a rugby pitch given to them near the town's golf course. [1] In 1969, Edenderry won the Leinster Provincial Towns Cup. shortly after the victory, the club decided to move grounds across the county border to Carbury in County Kildare with a new clubhouse being constructed in 1974 and extended in 1986. [1] A further fundraising effort to improve the clubhouse was spearheaded by Moss Keane who played with a team of Irish internationals against an Edenderry XV in a charity match in 1990. [1] The renovations were finished in 1999 with the Irish Minister of Finance, Charlie McCreevy and the President of the Irish Rugby Football Union, Billy Lavery opening it. [1]

Edenderry have been used as hosts for the Provincial Towns Cup by the Leinster branch of the IRFU. [2] They have also hosted training sessions for the Leinster Rugby provincial side. [3] In 2018, the IRFU selected Edenderry to host the final of the national All-Ireland Junior Cup. [4] In 2019, Edenderry received a grant of €24,878 from the Republic of Ireland government to install new floodlights at their ground. [5]

Kevin McLaughlin is a retired professional rugby union player from Ireland. He attended the primary school Kildare Place National School and was educated at secondary level at Gonzaga College. He played provincial rugby for Leinster and used to play club rugby for University College Dublin RFC until they were relegated to AIL Division 2. His current club is St. Mary's College RFC.

Navan Rugby Football Club is an Irish rugby union club, based in Navan, County Meath, Republic of Ireland. They currently (2022-2023) play in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League. The club was founded in 1924.

Naas RFC is an Irish rugby club based in Naas, Leinster. They play in division 1B of the All-Ireland League. The club colours are green and white hoops with black shorts and green socks. The Club is the biggest rugby club in Kildare with one of the biggest underage structures in Leinster and 15 LRR referees. The club grounds are located at Forenaghts, 2 km to the East of the town.

Enniscorthy RFC is a rugby union club based in Enniscorthy, County Wexford in Ireland. As of 2023, it fields teams in Division 2B of the All-Ireland League, having been promoted from Division 2C in 2022. Its clubhouse and pitch are located on the Ross Road in Enniscorthy. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest rugby clubs in County Wexford.

Tullamore RFC is an Irish rugby team based in Tullamore, County Offaly, playing in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League

Balbriggan RFC is an Irish rugby team based at Bowhill, Balrothery just outside of Balbriggan town. They are a junior club and are currently playing in Division 2A of the Leinster League. The club colours are green and white. The club's women's team is currently in the Leinster League Division 2 The current president is Caroline McFadden 2019-2021 and the vice president is Leigh O'Toole 2019-2021. The club also has youths boys and girls teams as well as men's, women's, minis and special needs teams. In 2020 the club finally opened the long anticipated clubhouse. George Thomas Hamlet was a former president of the club who was also president of the IRFU and played rugby for Ireland on 29 occasions. In 1928 Balbriggan won the Leinster Towns Cup defeating Athy.

Birr RFC is an Irish rugby team based in Birr, County Offaly, playing in Division 2B of the Leinster League. Formed in 1887 the club is one of the oldest clubs the country. The club colours are green and black.

North Kildare RFC is an Irish rugby team based between Maynooth and Kilcock, County Kildare. It is part of the North Kildare Club, which also includes cricket, hockey, bowls, tennis and bridge sections. It is also the home of Bear Gym.

Athboy RFC is an Irish rugby team based in Athboy, County Meath, playing in Division 3 of the Leinster League. The club colours are red, purple and black.

Cashel Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland, playing in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League. Edenderry Town F.C. are an association football team from Edenderry, County Offaly. They play in the Leinster Senior League. They were founded in 1926 and have provided senior football since its establishment and underage football to the North Offaly Area for over 25 years. The club has developed rapidly in recent times, playing in the top tier of the Leinster senior league while the core beliefs remain the same.
