Mullingar Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Mullingar in County Westmeath, Ireland.
The team was founded in 1953 and participates in both men's and women's leagues.
County Westmeath is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Leinster and is part of the Eastern and Midland Region. It formed part of the historic Kingdom of Meath, which was named Mide because the kingdom was located in the geographical centre of Ireland. The current champions are The Downs GAA, winning their 10th title in 2022.

The winner of the competition qualifies to represent the county in the Leinster Intermediate Club Football Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship.
Bernard Flynn is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for the Meath county team. As a teenager he attended secondary school in St Mary's of Drogheda. He enjoyed success play inter-county football in the 1980s and early 1990s on the Meath teams managed by Sean Boylan. For Meath he usually played at corner forward. He played club football for St Colmcille's of East Meath up to the 1991 season when he moved to St Joseph's (Laois) and then to Mullingar Shamrocks (Westmeath).
The 2008–09 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship was the 39th since the establishment of the competition by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1970–71. The first matches of the season were played on 12 October 2008 and the championship ended on 17 March 2009. Portumna went into the 2008 championship as defending champions, having won their second All-Ireland title the previous year.
The 2009–10 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship was the 40th staging of Ireland's premier inter-county club hurling competition since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1970–71. A total of 15 teams competed in the championship, with Ballyhale Shamrocks unseating the two-time defending champions Portumna by 1–19 to 0–17 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. The championship began on 11 October 2009 and concluded on 17 March 2010.

Donal O'Donoghue is a Gaelic footballer who plays for his local club Mullingar Shamrocks and the Westmeath county team. O'Donoghue joined the panel in 2003 which proved to be less successful as O'Donoghue and his team's neighbours Meath knocked them out of the Leinster Championship before exiting in the qualifiers to Monaghan. The year after proved to be a shock as he won his first Leinster medal under Kerryman Páidí Ó Sé only to be denied in the quarter-final by Derry.

Patrick Flanagan was an Irish Gaelic footballer and hurler who played for club sides Mullingar Shamrocks, The Downs, and St Loman's and at inter-county level as a dual player with the Westmeath senior teams. He usually lined out as a defender. Paddy married Judy Harte in August 1957. They had four children, Fergal, Brian, Kevin and Claire. They have six grandchildren, Paul, Aoife, Ailish, Niamh, Sean and Tara. Paddy was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
Luke Loughlin is a dual player of Gaelic games, who plays football for The Downs, hurling for Clonkill and also plays at senior level for the Westmeath county football team. He has also featured for the New York county football team.
