Jämsä is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Central Finland region, about 58 kilometres (36 mi) southwest of Jyväskylä. The municipality has a population of 19,770, which make it the second largest town of the Central Finland after Jyväskylä. It covers an area of 1,823.90 square kilometres (704.21 sq mi) of which 252.57 km2 (97.52 sq mi) is water. The population density is 12.58 inhabitants per square kilometre (32.6/sq mi).

Keuruu is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Central Finland region. The municipality has a population of 9,441 and covers an area of 1,430.57 square kilometres (552.35 sq mi) of which 172.4 km2 (66.6 sq mi) is water. The population density is 7.5 inhabitants per square kilometre (19/sq mi). The town center and Haapamäki village are both the most populated places in Keuruu.

Korpilahti is a former municipality of Finland. Together with Jyväskylän maalaiskunta, Korpilahti was consolidated with Jyväskylä on January 1, 2009.

The municipality has a population of 703 and covers an area of 313.25 square kilometres (120.95 sq mi) of which 98.73 km2 (38.12 sq mi) is water. In relation to its population Luhanka is not just the smallest municipality in the region but also smallest in the whole Mainland Finland.

Koskenpää is a village and former municipality of Finland in the Central Finland region. It was consolidated with Jämsänkoski in 1969, which in turn was consolidated with Jämsä in 2009.

Savonian dialects Group of dialects of Finnish

The Savonian dialects (Finnish: Savolaismurteet) are forms of the Finnish language spoken in Savonia and other parts of Eastern Finland. Finnish dialects are grouped broadly into Eastern and Western varieties; Savonian dialects are of the Eastern variety.

Maalaiskunta (Finnish), landskommun (Swedish), "rural municipality", abbreviated mlk was one of the four types of municipality in Finland in 1865–1976. Other types in 1865–1959 were city and market town, in 1960–1976 old city, new city and market town. Maalaiskunta was the most common type of municipality. In the 1977 reform, all municipalities were given fully equal legal standing. Previous maalaiskuntas associated with a city retained their name. For example, Rovaniemen maalaiskunta surrounded the city of Rovaniemi, but were independently governed. From 2009, no municipalities will carry this name any more, after the merger of Jyväskylä and Jyväskylän mlk.

Orivesi–Jyväskylä railway

The Orivesi–Jyväskylä railway, also called the Jämsä railway is a 1,524 mm railway in Finland, running between the Orivesi and Jyväskylä stations.

Finnish national road 58 Road in Finland

The Finnish national road 58 is the main road from Kangasala to Kärsämäki via Orivesi, Jämsä, Keuruu, Karstula, Kinnula and Haapajärvi. The road is also called Suomenselkätie and has been marketed as an alternative road connection to Highways 4 and 9. The length of the road is about 385 kilometres (239 mi), which makes it the longest 2nd class main route in Finland. In the 1938 road numbering system, main road 58 was the road between Lahti and Padasjoki, but after the completion of the Helsinki–Lahti road, Highway 4 switched to Lahti and road number 58 was taken out of service. In the mid-1970s, however, it was reopened on the road between Orivesi and Keuruu.
