Murugappa Group is an Indian conglomerate founded in 1900 by A. M. Murugappa Chettiar. [3] [4] The Group has 29 businesses including 10 companies listed on the NSE and the BSE. [5] [1] Headquartered in Chennai, the major companies of the Group include Carborundum Universal, Cholamandalam Financial Holdings, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance, Cholamandalam MS General Insurance, Coromandel International, EID Parry, Parry Agro Industries, Shanthi Gears, Tube Investments of India, Wendt (India), and CG Power and Industrial Solutions.

Contents

The Group has presence in several segments including abrasives, auto components, bicycles, sugar, farm inputs, fertilisers, plantations, bioproducts and nutraceuticals. It owns brands like BSA, Hercules, Montra, Montra Electric, Mach City, Ballmaster, Ajax, Parry's, Chola, Gromor, Shanthi Gears and Paramfos. The Group has a workforce of over 60,000 employees. [6] The current executive chairman is MM Murugappan. [7]

Arunachalam Vellayan is a member of the Murugappa family and the vice-chairman of the Murugappa Group, based in Chennai, India. In February 2018, he stepped down as chairman of the group, ceding the spot to his cousin M.M.Murugappan. He is the Chairman of Coromandel International Limited and EID Parry (India) Ltd. He is also the Chairman of the Fertiliser Association of India, and is a Director in AMM Educational Foundation and Kanoria Chemicals and Industries Ltd, Calcutta.
