The Discobolus by Myron is an ancient Greek sculpture completed at the start of the Classical period in around 460–450 BC that depicts an ancient Greek athlete throwing a discus. Its Greek original in bronze lost, the work is known through numerous Roman copies, both full-scale ones in marble, which is cheaper than bronze, such as the Palombara Discobolus, the first to be recovered, and smaller scaled versions in bronze.

Myron Bruce Bradley, known as Bruce Bradley, is a retired water polo player from the United States, who competed in two consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1968. He won the bronze medal with the Men's National Team at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. In 1984, he was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame. Bradley was born in Los Angeles, California, and is now living in Long Beach, California.

As a wrestler in college, he was a three-time All-American and two-time NCAA Wrestling national champion. He competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics in freestyle wrestling. As a wrestling coach at Oklahoma State, Roderick introduced recruiting on a major scale in the sport of wrestling. Oklahoma State would win seven team NCAA Championships while he was head coach. Roderick also established the foundation of what is now USA Wrestling.
