"N-R-G" is the debut single by British acid house DJ and producer Adamski, released in early 1990. The song charted well in both the UK and U.S., peaking at No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart on 27 January 1990, and at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in May 1990. The song first appeared on his 1989 live album Liveandirect , then as an extended version on his debut studio album Doctor Adamski's Musical Pharmacy the following year.

The single's cover featured a mocked up Lucozade bottle with the name "Lucozade" replaced with "Adamski", and the word "Energy" replaced with "N-R-G". [2] The company had threatened to sue due to the use of the bottle without permission. [3]

The single spent four weeks at the top in May and June 1990 and sold over 400,000 copies in the UK, earning it gold certification. It also reached number one in Belgium and Zimbabwe and number two in the Netherlands and West Germany.

<i>Liveandirect</i> 1989 live album by Adamski

Liveandirect is a live album and the first release by English acid house and rave producer Adamski. It was released in November 1989 by MCA Records. Having gained a following and positive reputation in the UK rave scene in the late 1980s where he made his name, Adamski signed to MCA and recorded Liveandirect at various raves, nightclubs and parties across the United Kingdom, as well as at Amnesia, Ibiza, in summer 1989. It has since been considered to be both the first live rave album and the first rave album overall. Employing acid house and techno styles, the music on the album is instrumental and was created using a Roland TR-909 drum machine and Ensoniq SQ-80 sequencer.
