Nogometni klub Korotan Prevalje (English: Korotan Prevalje Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Korotan Prevalje or simply Korotan, was a Slovenian football club from Prevalje, which played a total of nine seasons in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, the highest level of football in Slovenia. [2] The club was dissolved during the 2002–03 Slovenian PrvaLiga season, when they folded after only eleven rounds due to financial reasons.
A successor club which claims rights to Korotan's honours and records was established in 2002 under the name DNŠ Prevalje. [3] However, they are not legally considered to be successors to the original Korotan and the two clubs' track records and honours are kept separate by the Football Association of Slovenia. [3]
Nogometni klub Primorje, commonly referred to as NK Primorje or simply Primorje, was a Slovenian football club which played in the town of Ajdovščina. After Slovenia's independence in 1991, Primorje spent a total of 18 seasons in the Slovenian PrvaLiga until the club folded following the 2010–11 season when they were, due to high financial debt, unable to obtain competition licences issued by the Football Association of Slovenia. Their best league result was the second place in the 1996–97 and 2001–02 seasons.
Prevalje is a settlement in northern Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Prevalje. It lies in the traditional Slovenian province of Carinthia. Prevalje lies in a valley where the Meža River emerges from a narrow gorge, full of fluvioglacial sediments. To the north the settlement is bounded by the Strojna, Stražišče, and Dolga Brda hills. To the south are Navrski vrh and Riflov vrh.
