The Naked Women's Wrestling League, also known as NWWL, was an erotic women's professional wrestling promotion which featured nude females "battling" in the ring. Carmen Electra acted as hostess for the organization until 2007, when she sued the company for breach of contract. The NWWL broadcast shows around the world, and its wrestlers were featured in magazines such as Penthouse , Playboy , and Maxim .
Before creating the Naked Women's Wrestling League, the creators tried other products that featured naked women, such as online gambling, before settling on nude female wrestling. [2]
The NWWL wrestlers were trained by Ron Hutchison. [2] [3] The show made its debut in 2004 with the release of the pay-per-view show "Vegas Stripped". It returned to pay-per-view in 2006, with the "Naked Revolution" show. Carmen Electra hosted the show, while other celebrities to appear on the program included pro-wrestling manager Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart, as well as adult entertainment star Mary Carey. [3] [4] Pay-per-views feature female wrestlers wrestling both clothed and in the nude. [3]
In November 2007, Electra announced a lawsuit against the NWWL for, among other things, breach of contract and failure to pay money that she claimed was still due to her. [1] In response, NWWL owner Howard Mann revealed that he would seek damages for defamation, slander and malicious persecution. [1]
In late 2007, the NWWL launched a website where their nude wrestling matches were available for download. Since the promotion debuted, the NWWL shows have been broadcast in approximately 38 countries. [2] In addition, the wrestlers have been featured in Penthouse , Playboy , and Maxim . [2]

The Pubic Wars, a pun on the Punic Wars, was a rivalry between the American men's magazines Playboy and Penthouse during the 1960s and 1970s. Each magazine strove to show just a little bit more nudity on their female models than the other, without getting too crude. The term was coined by Playboy owner Hugh Hefner. In 1950s and 1960s United States, it was generally agreed that nude photographs were not pornographic unless they showed pubic hair or genitals. Mainstream mass-market photography was careful to come close to this line without stepping over it. Consequently, the depiction of pubic hair was de facto forbidden in U.S. pornographic magazines of the era.

Softcore pornography or softcore porn is commercial still photography, film, or art that has a pornographic or erotic component but is less sexually graphic and intrusive than hardcore pornography, defined by a lack of visual sexual penetration. It typically contains nude or semi-nude actors involved in love scenes and is intended to be sexually arousing and aesthetically beautiful. The distinction between softcore pornography and erotic photography or art, such as Vargas girl pin-ups, is largely a matter of debate.
A Playmate is a female model featured in the centerfold/gatefold of Playboy magazine as Playmate of the Month (PMOTM). The PMOTM's pictorial includes nude photographs and a centerfold poster, along with a pictorial biography and the "Playmate Data Sheet", which lists her birthdate, measurements, turn-ons, and turn-offs. At the end of the year, one of the 12 Playmates of the Month is named Playmate of the Year (PMOTY). Every Playmate of the Month is awarded a prize of US$25,000 and each Playmate of the Year receives an additional prize of US$100,000 plus a car and other discretionary gifts. In addition, Anniversary Playmates are usually chosen to celebrate a milestone year of the magazine. The use of the word "Playmate" in a sexual sense did not originate with Playboy, and was seen at least as early as 1950 in Vue magazine.
