Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) was a California-based independent pro wrestling company owned and operated by Rick Bassman, [1] that operated from 1999 to 2007.

Contents

The company had working relationships with Pro Wrestling Zero1 and World Wrestling Entertainment. It served as a developmental company for WWE, where they would scout wrestlers and send others for training, from 2006 to 2007. [2] Some of the major names to go on to stardom are, John Cena, Samoa Joe, The Miz and Christopher Daniels. The promotion was featured on a Discovery Channel special called Inside Pro Wrestling School.

The Intercontinental Tag Team Championship is a professional wrestling tag team title in Japanese promoting Pro Wrestling Zero1, typically reserved for heavyweight wrestlers. It was created on June 14, 2001, three months after then Pro Wrestling Zero-One's creation, when Samoa Joe and Keiji Sakoda defeated Yuuki Ishikawa and Katsumi Usuda. This was during a time when Zero-One was a member of the National Wrestling Alliance; since the two organizations' parting in late 2004, the NWA does not recognize or sanction it, though it retains the NWA initials. It is one of two tag team titles currently active in Zero1, along with the NWA International Lightweight Tag Team Championship, contested exclusively among junior heavyweights. The International Junior Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling title in Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling Zero1 and formerly sanctioned by the Wrestling Superstars Live promotion, contested exclusively among junior heavyweight wrestlers. It was originally created on June 29, 2002, as the NWA/UPW/Zero-One International Junior Heavyweight Championship, symbolizing Zero-One's relationship with the NWA and UPW; Leonardo Spanky defeated Smelly to become the first champion. When Zero-One left the NWA on October 31, 2004, the title was renamed to incorporate Steve Corino's Pro Wrestling World-1; the name was further added to when the newly renamed Zero1-Max joined the AWA on February 28, 2005. On August 26, 2006, when Minoru Fujita won the annual Tenka-Ichi Junior Tournament, it was again renamed the AWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. The Zero-One United States Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling title in Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling Zero1. It was created on January 6, 2003, with Steve Corino defeating Masato Tanaka. In addition to Japan, it has recently been frequently defended in various independent companies in the United States.

Timothy Frank Fischer is an American musician, comedian, writer and professional wrestler, known by his ring name "The Real Deal" Damien Steele. Fisher competed in WWE, WCW, XPW, WWC and UPW between 1995 and 2007. Fischer held the XPW World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions.

Dangan Yankies, is a professional wrestling stable in Pro Wrestling Zero1 (ZERO1). It was originally formed by Masato Tanaka, Yusaku Obata, and Daichi Hashimoto. Other members have included Ikuto Hidaka, Fujita Hayato, Takashi Sugiura, Isami Kodaka, and Yuko Miyamoto.

Junior Stars is a professional wrestling tag team consisting of Minoru Tanaka and Koji Kanemoto. Forming in 1999, the team became one of the most popular in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship in June 2000. After Kanemoto joined Team 2000 and Minoru became the masked Heat character in 2002, the team went on hiatus until 2004, when they reunited albeit for one night only as Minoru turned on Kanemoto during the match. The team officially reunited in All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) in 2012, where they won the All Asia Tag Team Championship twice. The two left AJPW to join the newly formed Wrestle-1 in 2013, and continue to team together on the Japanese independent circuit.

Yusaku Obata is a Japanese professional wrestler, currently a freelancer. He's best known for his time in Pro Wrestling Zero1 (ZERO1), where is a former World Heavyweight Champion, a former two-time NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Champion, a former NWA United National Heavyweight Champion, the winner of the 2013 and 2016 Furinkazan and the 2016 Fire Festival.
