Virginia Championship Wrestling (VCW), formerly known as Vanguard Championship Wrestling, is an independent American professional wrestling promotion founded in 1996 by Ronald Nowel. VCW is the leading independent professional wrestling organization in Virginia, United States.
In the early 2000s Travis Bradshaw took over as promoter and rebranded the company as Vanguard Championship Wrestling in 2004. In June 2020, Jerry Stephanitsis took over VCW and rebranded the company back to Virginia Championship Wrestling. [1] [2] [3] [4]
The promotion was founded as Virginia Championship Wrestling by Ronald Nowel in 1996. [1] [4]

In 2004, Virginia Championship Wrestling rebranded to Vanguard Championship Wrestling. [2]
Starting in 2004, VCW started releasing content on the paid subscription service Pivotshare. VCW offers; live events, taped events, documentaries, interviews and talk shows. [4]
From 2008 to 2019, VCW aired a weekly television show on Fox 43 and expanded to larger venues for live events. [4] [5]
In June 2020, Jerry Stephanitsis took over as the promoter of VCW and On July 24, 2020, the company was rebranded as Virginia Championship Wrestling, the original name of the company. [1] [2] [3] [4]

The WWF Light Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling championship in the World Wrestling Federation promotion. The title was challenged by light heavyweights at a maximum weight of 215 lbs. It was created on March 26, 1981 for the Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) in a partnership between the WWF and UWA. On 16 June 1995, the title moved to Michinoku Pro Wrestling, but due to WWF's ownership of the title, it was returned to the WWF in 1997, the year which WWE recognizes as the beginning of the championship's lineage. The inaugural champion in UWA was Perro Aguayo, however, the WWE considers the inaugural champion to be Taka Michinoku, with his reign beginning on December 7, 1997. It was retired on March 8, 2002 with X-Pac as the final champion.

Richard Wendell Morton is an American professional wrestler, currently performing on the independent circuit. For most of his career, Morton has performed with Robert Gibson as the Rock 'n' Roll Express, described as "the consummate babyface tag team". Morton has wrestled for multiple promotions in the United States including the Continental Wrestling Association, Mid-South Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions/World Championship Wrestling, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, the World Wrestling Federation, and Extreme Championship Wrestling, as well as the Japanese promotions All Japan Pro Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Wrestle Association R.
Steven Eugene "Steve" Corino is a Canadian semi-retired professional wrestler currently signed with WWE as a trainer and producer for their developmental territory NXT. He is best known for his tenure with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) from 1998 to 2001 and Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2002 to 2006 and 2009–2016.
Christopher Wright is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, C. W. Anderson. He is best known for his appearances with Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1999 to 2001.
Jason Spence is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Christian York. Damien Wayne Kostyal, better known by his ring name Damien Wayne, is an American professional wrestler. He is a 3-time holder of the NWA National Heavyweight Championship and former holder of the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship. He is a former AIWF World Heavyweight Champion.

Corino is best known for his time with Ring of Honor (ROH) and has wrestled for WWE as well as various independent promotions including PWF, PWX, CWF Mid-Atlantic, DPW, and Catalyst Wrestling where he is the current Heavyweight champion. He is the son of former NWA World Heavyweight Champion and ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Steve Corino.

King, with the intention to showcase the top independent wrestlers of Virginia, Maryland, and the general Mid-Atlantic region, as well as bring some of independent wrestling's popular names to the Northern Virginia area. The debut show, titled "The NOVA Project", took place on September 25, 2015 in Fairfax, Virginia.

Koloszuk is co-founder of Tri-State Wrestling Alliance(formerly National Wrestling Alliance Big Apple).
