The women formed their alliance in August 2005 after Wilson and Michelle were traded to Raw from SmackDown!. Vince's Devils, named after WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, helped each other in their matches and rivalries until tension began growing between Wilson and Candice Michelle over the latter's April 2006 Playboy pictorial. The group had officially split by March 2006.

It is the only women's tag team championship in WWE, thus is defended across both main roster brand divisions, Raw and SmackDown, and the developmental brand, NXT. The current champions are Bianca Belair and Naomi from SmackDown, who are in their first reign as a team and second reign for each individually. Belair and Jade Cargill originally won the title by defeating The Unholy Union at Bash in Berlin on August 31, 2024, but due to injury, Belair chose Naomi as Cargill's replacement on the December 20, 2024, episode of SmackDown; WWE recognizes this as a single uninterrupted reign.
