Nangiarkulangara is a relatively small town situated near Haripad, Alappuzha district in the state of Kerala, India. Nangiarkulangara is the satellite town of Haripad city and part of Haripad Municipality. Nangiarkulangara is the central point of three major towns in central Travancore. Roads from Haripad, Mavelikara, Thrikkunnappuzha and Kayamkulam meet at this pivot point. It is also known for the Sri Krishna temple which is in the centre of the town. The national highway NH 66 passes through this town.

NTPC Limited, whose Rajiv Gandhi (Kayamkulam) Combined Cycle Power Plant is located at nearby Choolatheruvu, has a portion of its township at Nangiarkulangara, very close to NH 47. In fact, originally, this was the temporary township, when the main township, named Shaktipuram, closer to the power plant, was under construction during 1998-2000.

Major routes are Nangiarkulangara Junction-Mavelikara-Charumoodu-Chakkuvally-Puthiyakavu, Puthiyakavu Junction-Chakkuvally-Charumoodu- Mavelikara-Thattarambalam-Nangiarkulangara Junction and Oachira-Choonadu- Mavelikara-Thattarambalam-Nangiarkulangara Junction.

Nangiarkulangara is notable for its educational institutions the famous T.K. Madhava Memorial College having graduate & post graduate courses; Bethany Girls School which is one of the best schools in the district and its CBSE school is Bethany Central school.

Nangiakulangra also has the famous Major Sreekrisha temple under Travancore Dewasom board.

Odanad was a feudal state in late medieval Kerala. It was established in the 11th century, and disestablished in 1746 when it became part of Travancore after Venad King Marthanda Varma's northern expedition. The last king of Odanad was King Kotha Varma. At the time of its dissolution, it was composed of the present-day taluks of Mavelikkara, Karthikapally, Chenganur in the Alappuzha district and Karunagapally in the Kollam district. In the 15th century, the capital of Odanad was moved from Kandiyoor-Muttom, Mavelikkara to Eruva and Krishnapuram, near Kayamkulam, which led to the state being called Kayamkulam. After this shift, Kayamkulam became the commercial centre of Odanad, while Mavelikkara remained its cultural centre. Odanad was controlled by Nair lords, among whom the ruler of Kayamkulam was the most prominent.

The Main Central Road better known as MC Road is the arterial State Highway starting from Kesavadasapuram in Trivandrum city and ends at Angamaly, a suburb of Kochi city in Ernakulam District, in the state of Kerala, India. It is designated as State Highway 1 by the Kerala Public Works Department. The highway was built by Raja Kesavadas, Dewan of Travancore, in 1790's. Plan for a new highway called Thiruvananthapuram–Angamaly Greenfield Highway, which runs parallel to the MC Road is proposed and is under early stage of development.
