Naseer Ismail (born 10 July 1975) is a former athlete from the Maldives who competed in the middle- and long-distance running events. [2] He represented his country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996, as well as three World Championships.

The Maldives competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, from 15 September to 1 October 2000. The delegation's participation in the Sydney Olympics marked the Maldives' fourth appearance at the Summer Olympics since their debut at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Four athletes competed across two sports; Naseer Ismail and Shamha Ahmed in track and field, and Hassan Mubah and Fariha Fathimath in swimming. Neither advanced past the first round in their respective events, and no Maldivian has won a medal in any events. Naseer Ismail bore the Maldives' flag during the parade of nations of the opening ceremony.
Lidia Chojecka-Leandro is a retired Polish middle- and long-distance runner who mainly competed in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres. She won bronze medals in the 1500 m at the 1997 and 1999 World Indoor Championships, and for the 3000 m at the 2006 World Indoor Championships. Chojecka is a six-time European Indoor Championships medallist in the 1500 m and 3000 m events, earning three golds and three silvers. She took the double at the 2007 European Indoor Championships, becoming the first runner, male or female, to win both events at the same championships. She had been one of the most consistent middle-distance runners in Europe throughout the 1990s, and finished fifth and sixth in back-to-back Olympic 1500 m finals in 2000 and 2004.
Ismail Ahmed Ismail is a Sudanese sprinter who represents Sudan in 800 metres. He was born in Khartoum. Ismail won Sudan's first ever Olympic medal, by earning a silver medal in the Men's 800 metres at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The Maldives competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States, from 19 July to 4 August 1996. The delegation's participation in the Atlanta Olympics marked the Maldives' third appearance at the Summer Olympics since their debut at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Six athletes competed across two sports; Mohamed Amir, Naseer Ismail, Hussain Riyaz, Ahmed Shageef and Yaznee Nasheeda in track and field, and Moosa Nazim in swimming. None of the track or swimming athletes advanced past the first round in their events, and no Maldivian has won a medal in any events. Ahmed Shageef bore the Maldives' flag during the parade of nations of the opening ceremony.
The Maldives first participated at the Olympic Games in 1988. It has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since, but has not participated in the Winter Olympic Games.
The men's 800 metres at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place from 20–23 August at the Beijing National Stadium. Fifty-eight athletes from 40 nations competed. The qualifying standards were 1:46.00 and 1:47.00. The final on 23 August resulted in a triumph for Kenyan runner Wilfred Bungei in an official time of 1:44.65. It was the first victory in the event for Kenya since 1992 and the third overall. Ismail Ahmed Ismail's silver medal was Sudan's first Olympic medal in any competition.
Sudan will compete at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15–23 August. A team of 9 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes have achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. The squad includes 800 metres olympic silver medalist Ismail Ahmed Ismail, and 800 metres World Junior champion Abubaker Kaki.
Marcin Przemysław Lewandowski is a Polish retired middle-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships and silver in the same event at the 2018 World Indoor Championships. At the European Athletics Championships, Lewandowski claimed gold in the 800 metres in 2010 and silvers in 2016 and 2018 for the 800 m and 1500 m respectively. He took also five medals at the European Indoor Championships, including three golds between 2015 and 2019, and two silvers in 2011 and 2021.
Luiza Gega is an Albanian middle- and long-distance runner who specialises in the 3000 metres steeplechase since 2016. She won the silver medal in the event at the 2016 European Championships, and a gold in 2022 setting the championship record in the process. Her silver was the first ever Albania’s European medal, while her gold was the first ever title for the country at the European Athletics Championships.
Balázs Korányi is a retired Hungarian middle-distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres. He finished fourth at the 1999 World Indoor Championships.
Malin Ewerlöf-Krepp is retired Swedish athlete who competed in the middle-distance events. She represented her country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in both 800 and 1500 metres, reaching semifinals in the latter. She won the 800 metres silver medal at the 1998 European Championships.
Ravilya Agletdinova was a Soviet middle-distance runner who competed in 800 metres, 1500 metres and 3000 metres events.
Noélie Ditchakou Yarigo is a middle-distance runner from Benin who competes primarily in the 800 metres. She represented her country at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Esther Guerrero Puigdevall is a Spanish middle-distance runner competing primarily in the 800 metres. She won two medals for the mixed relay at the European Cross Country Championships.
Ivan Komar is a retired Belarusian middle-distance runner who competed primarily in the 800 metres. He represented his country at three consecutive World Championships starting in 1993.
Andreas Kramer is a Swedish middle-distance runner specialising in the 800 metres. He won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships and the silver medal at the 2024 World Indoor Championships. With the performance of 1:49.62 he is the current European junior indoor record holder.

Gaia Sabbatini is an Italian middle distance runner. She won the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 2021 European Under-23 Championships. Sabbatini is the Italian indoor record holder for the 1000 metres.
