Natalie E. Brown is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service,class of Minister Counselor. In 2019,she was nominated to be the Ambassador to Uganda, [2] and her nomination was confirmed on August 6,2020. She arrived in Uganda the weekend of October 31,2020 [3] and presented her credentials on November 17,2020. [4] She previously served as the Chief of Mission and Chargéd'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Asmara,Eritrea from September 2016 to November 2019. [5]
Brown earned a Bachelor of Science from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1988 and was awarded her Master of Science from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 1999. [2]
Brown speaks French and Arabic,and has studied Italian,German,Amharic,and Tigrinya.
A chargéd'affaires,plural chargés d'affaires,often shortened to chargé (French) and sometimes in colloquial English to charge-D,is a diplomat who serves as an embassy's chief of mission in the absence of the ambassador. The term is French for "charged with business",meaning they are responsible for the duties of an ambassador. Chargé is masculine in gender;the feminine form is chargée d'affaires.
Anatols Dinbergs was one of the preeminent career diplomats of Latvia. He entered service in Latvia's Foreign Ministry in 1932. Dinbergs remained abroad when the Soviet Union occupied Latvia,serving in the Latvian Legation in Washington,D.C.,after World War II ended.
