Natalie Osborne is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks , played by Tiffany Mulheron. The character made her first on-screen appearance on 23 May 2003. Mulheron made her final appearance as Natalie during the episode broadcast on 24 August 2004.
Mulheron originally auditioned for the role of Roxy, a guest character, who was later murdered by serial killer Toby Mills (Henry Luxemburg). [1] Mulheron commented, "I don't think I was suitable, which was lucky for me. It was a good part but she didn't live for very long." [1] The character of Natalie and Mulheron's casting were announced in May 2004. Tina Baker from revealed that Natalie was being introduced as the niece of established character Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna). She added "looks like the lads are in for a treat" once Natalie arrives. [2]
Natalie had several love interests during her time in the show, and Mulheron thought her character was "quite tarty". [3] Natalie often wore revealing clothing, which she used to "show off her body to snare men." [1] Mulheron said viewers would be surprised to meet her in real life, as she was always covered up. [3] She also said that she and Natalie were very dissimilar. [3] Mulheron called Natalie "a very bad girl" and explained that she loved playing her, as she was "a bitch." [1] She added that before Natalie's scenes, she would stop and think of all the "bitchy things" she could. [3]
Natalie decides she wants a romantic relationship with her cousin, Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson). She makes this decision when Darren gets back together with his ex-girlfriend Debbie Dean (Jodi Albert). [4] Albert told an Inside Soap reporter that Debbie believed she had ruined her chances of reconciling with Darren after she got back with her ex-boyfriend Dan Hunter (Andy McNair). Darren initially refuses but later agrees to give Debbie another chance. [4] This annoys Natalie who decides to scheme against the couple and end their relationship. Albert explained that Debbie is unaware "Natalie has her eye on Darren too" but Natalie makes it known and is "all over him like a rash, trying to make Debbie jealous." [4] Debbie soon tires of Natalie's scheming and a fight ensues between them. Albert revealed that Debbie is "furious" and "sees red" with Natalie when she realises her plan. They have a food fight with tomato ketchup, which Albert branded a "full-scale ketchup fight". Albert added that she and Mulheron had "great fun" filming the fight scenes. [4]
Mulheron decided to leave at the end of her contract in October 2004, so she could pursue different film and television roles. [5]
Natalie is Jack's niece who comes to live with him after refusing to return to her small home village. She annoys Jack's lodger Izzy Davies (Elize du Toit) by stealing her clothes and make-up, and flirting with her boyfriend Ben Davies (Marcus Patric). She does not get much work done along with her cousin Darren.
She has a sexual relationship with Darren, but rejects his later advances, until he dates Debbie. Natalie and Darren begin an affair. Debbie's jealousy results in a food fight using tomato ketchup and Darren breaks-up their fight. Natalie later seduces Craig Dean (Guy Burnett) and he loses his virginity to her. She mistreats Craig and his sisters Debbie and Steph Dean (Carley Stenson) get revenge on her. Natalie's younger sister Rachel Osborne (Lucy Evans) arrives and she vows to get rid of Rachel. The sisters begin arguing on numerous occasions and she fails her exams. Natalie becomes pregnant but is unsure who the father is. Jack retaliates by sending Natalie and Rachel back to live in Scotland.
At the 2004 British Soap Awards , Mulheron was nominated in the category of Sexiest Female for her portrayal of Natalie. [6] A writer from Virgin Media profiled some of Hollyoaks' "hottest females" in their opinion, of Natalie they stated: "The claws were out when Jack Osborne's niece, Natalie, landed in Hollyoaks. The sexy madam charmed the pants off many a man during her brief stay but she was unceremoniously sent back to Scotland after getting pregnant." [7] James Hastings of the Daily Mirror branded the character a "man-eater" and a "spoilt temptress". [3] Lucy Lather from Inside Soap branded Natalie an "irritating" character. When Gordon Cunningham (Bernard Latham) and Helen Cunningham (Kathryn George) were killed off in a car crash storyline, Lather wished that the show's producers had also killed off Natalie "while they were at it". The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 18 November 1996 and is the second longest featured character in the show. He was introduced as part of the Osborne family, which also consisted of Jack's wife Celia and their children Darren and Ruth. His storylines include an affair with Dawn Cunningham, four marriages and faking his own death in an insurance scam. For numerous years, Jack's role in the show is the landlord of the pub, The Dog in the Pond.
Darren Osborne is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. He was introduced by executive producer Phil Redmond as part of the Osborne family, making his first screen appearance on 18 November 1996, portrayed by Adam Booth. Booth left the role in 1997, and the character was later recast to Ashley Taylor Dawson who first appeared in September 1999. Dawson left the role in 2000 to concentrate on his music career, though returned in 2003 and has remained in the role ever since. He remains one of the longest-running characters in the programme.
Steph Roach is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Carley Stenson. She debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 29 March 2000. Steph was introduced into the serial by executive producer Jo Hallows. In 2009 Stenson decided to quit, but the then producer Lucy Allan convinced her to stay to play out a dramatic storyline. The announcement of her departure was made public in June 2010. Stenson's fellow cast members have described her as a "Hollyoaks legend" because of her lengthy duration.
Mandy Richardson is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Sarah Jayne Dunn. She first appeared on 7 October 1996 and has been involved in various storylines, including dealing with sexual abuse while she was a child by her father Dennis, the suicide of her brother Lewis, and an on-off relationship with Tony Hutchinson before the couple married. Mandy had a miscarriage causing her to hit Tony. Mandy and Tony had a daughter together who they named Grace, only for her to die from sudden infant death syndrome. This led to the character and Dunn's exit from the serial in 2006. Dunn made a brief return in 2007 before making a return for six months in 2008. Dunn reprised her role as Mandy in 2010; in September 2011, Dunn announced her departure from the soap, and Mandy made her last appearance on 2 September 2011 before departing off-screen. Dunn later returned to her role in the sixth series of Hollyoaks Later in October 2013. In June 2017, it was announced that Dunn had reprised the role again and that Mandy would appear from July alongside Luke Morgan, played by Gary Lucy. Mandy returned on 26 July 2017. In November 2021, it was announced that Dunn's contract with Hollyoaks had been terminated due to starting an OnlyFans; viewers of the soap criticised the decision and Dunn herself voiced her disappointment with the production team. Her final scenes aired on 27 December 2021, and Mandy was given an off-screen departure on 31 January 2022.
Tom Cunningham is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Ellis Hollins. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 28 December 1999. With Tom being a young child for most of his tenure, his early years featured minimal storylines, including the numerous death of his family, being abused by Clare Devine and having various guardians including Steph Cunningham and Jack and Frankie Osborne. However, a turning point came for Tom when it was announced that his girlfriend, Peri Lomax would fall pregnant, and deal with Peri's subsequent decision to give their baby away for adoption. Other storylines have also included his friendships with Nico Blake and Dylan Jenkins and his relationships with Peri and his foster sister Jade Albright. Tom departed the village with Half Sister Cindy Cunningham in the episode aired on 4 September 2024, in an unannounced departure.

Barry "Newt" Newton is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Nico Mirallegro. He debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 22 October 2007. He was introduced as the serial's first emo character and as the foster son of Jack and Frankie Osborne. During the character's duration he was involved in notable storylines including schizophrenia, a suicide pact and living in foster care. In 2010, Mirallegro quit the serial to pursue other projects. Newt left the village on 25 June 2010.
The Dog in the Pond is a fictional public house in the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. It has been at the centre of the show's setting since it began in 1995. In 2003, The Dog in the Pond was nominated as the "Best TV Boozer of All Time" in a poll run by Blackthorn Cider. The pub was burnt down in episodes airing in September 2006 during the 'Fire at The Dog', which killed five regular characters. The fire was named as one of soap's biggest disasters by the Daily Record in 2010.
Jem Costello is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Helen Russell-Clark. She made her first on-screen appearance on 5 March 2010. It was later announced that Jem had been written out of the serial, and the character would leave in November 2010. Russell-Clark made her final appearance as Jem on 30 November 2010.
Riley Costello is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Rob Norbury. Riley was introduced on 20 July 2010 with the Costello family as part of a cast overhaul of the series. In December 2011, the serial's executive producer Emma Smithwick said that Riley would remain in Hollyoaks despite his family's departure. On 14 September 2012, it was announced Riley was to leave Hollyoaks and Riley was killed off in a shooting during the episode airing 3 October 2012.
Ruby Button is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Anna Shaffer. Shaffer's casting was announced in December 2010 and it was revealed that Ruby would be introduced as the sister of Duncan Button. Shaffer originally auditioned for the role of Leanne Holiday, in which she was not successful. Shaffer began filming her scenes in late 2010 and relocated to Liverpool for filming. Ruby made her first appearance in the episode broadcast on 3 January 2011. In October 2013, it was announced that Shaffer had quit the role and would leave in February 2014. In October 2017, speculation emerged indicating Shaffer was to reprise the role very soon and on 16 November 2017, it was confirmed that Ruby would be back for Frankie Osborne's funeral later that month. She returned on 23 November 2017, departing in the following episode, broadcast on 24 November. She made another return for a guest stint at the end of April 2018, making her final appearance on 30 April.

He first appeared in August 2000, and after departing from the main show in 2005, made further appearances in spin-offs, Hollyoaks: Let Loose and Hollyoaks: In the City, which followed his relationship with Lisa Hunter
The Osborne family are a fictional family in the long-running Channel 4 soap opera, Hollyoaks. Introduced to the show in 1996, The family moved to Hollyoaks village in 1996, although Ruth Osborne had previously lived in the Village. The characters have been involved in storylines such as dealing with a Gambling addiction, Ruth relationship with Kurt Benson, Jack's affair with Dawn Cunningham, a fake death scam for insurance money, financial troubles, Jack three marriages and fostering a child. Throughout their tenure on the serial, the Osbornes have owned the Dog in the Pond. Hollyoaks″ official website has described the Osborne family as belonging in the Dog in the Pond and as being the " rightfully at the helm" of the public house.
Dan Hunter is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Andy McNair. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 19 April 2001. McNair attended an audition for the role and was called back for a second audition, after which he was informed he had won the role. Dan is characterised as "moody and non-conformist" and has an anger problem. McNair believed Dan is defined by his miserable personality. He never became bored of playing the character's misery and admired his characterisation. He is initially portrayed as a loner who is disinterested in romance due to the pressure of working at his family garage business. Writers portrayed the illness diabetes via Dan and he takes insulin to control his condition. McNair found the story challenging to portray and thoroughly researched the condition to add authenticity to the character.
