The Alaska Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is a bicameral institution consisting of the 40-member Alaska House of Representatives and the 20-member Alaska Senate. There are 40 House Districts (1–40) and 20 Senate Districts (A–T). With a total of 60 lawmakers,the Alaska Legislature is the smallest bicameral state legislature in the United States and the second-smallest of all state legislatures. There are no term limits for either chamber. The Alaska Legislature meets in the Alaska State Capitol in Juneau,Alaska. The current meeting since 2023 is the 33rd Alaska State Legislature. The previous meeting,the 32nd Alaska State Legislature,met from 2021 to 2023.
Ralph Bradley Miller is an American attorney and former U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 13th congressional district,serving from 2003 to 2013. District 13 included all of Caswell and Person counties,and parts of Alamance,Granville,Guilford,Rockingham and Wake counties. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

It is currently the minority party in the state,as the rival Republican Party of Kentucky overwhelmingly dominates in the state legislature,congressional delegation,and presidential elections. However,the party does currently control the governorship and lieutenant governorship,and maintains some strength in local elections.

Steven Alexzander Horsford is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 4th congressional district since 2019,previously holding the position from 2013 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the Nevada Senate,representing the 4th district,in Clark County,from 2005 to 2013. Horsford was the first African American to serve as Majority Leader (2009–2013) and the first African American to represent Nevada in Congress. He lost to Republican nominee Cresent Hardy in 2014.
Dennis William Egan was an American politician who was a member of the Alaska Senate representing Juneau from April 19,2009,until January 15,2019. A member of the Democratic Party,he previously served as the mayor of Juneau from February 13,1995,to October 3,2000,and was a member of the local assembly prior to that. Outside of politics,he was known for his work as a radio broadcaster,most notably for KINY,and was inducted to the Alaskan Broadcaster Association's Hall of Fame in 2001.

Catherine Andrea Giessel is a Republican politician from the U.S. state of Alaska,who has served as a member of the Alaska Senate since 2023 and from 2011 to 2021. From 2013 to 2021,Giessel represented District N in the Alaska Senate,including Northeast Anchorage,Anchorage Hillside and the Turnagain Arm communities of Bird,Girdwood,Indian,and Anchorage,all within the Municipality of Anchorage. First elected in 2010 while identifying with Tea Party values,she has also served as the vice-chair of the state Republican Party and had a career in nursing. Following redistricting,she was elected to a different senate seat in 2012. Giessel serves as chair of the Resources Committee and is a member of the Senate Majority Caucus. After Senate President Pete Kelly was unseated in 2018,Giessel was elected president of the Alaska Senate,a post she held until 2021. Giessel returned to the Alaska Senate in 2023,representing the newly configured District E after defeating incumbent Republican Roger Holland. She will serve as Senate majority leader in the 33rd Legislature,overseeing a coalition caucus of eight Republicans and nine Democrats.
Frederick John Dyson was a Republican member of the Alaska Senate,serving since 2003. He represented District I from 2003 through 2012 until redistricting placed him in District F in 2013. District I contained the core community of Eagle River,where Dyson resides,and stretched across the northern edge of Anchorage municipal boundaries to Government Hill,also including the core area of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. After being redistricted again in 2012 he declined to run for reelection in 2014 against another incumbent,Anna Fairclough.
The 2018 Alaska House of Representatives election were held on Tuesday,November 6,2018,with the primary election on August 21,2018. Voters in the 40 districts of the Alaska House of Representatives elected their representatives. The elections coincided with the elections for other state offices,including the gubernatorial election and the state senate elections. While Republicans nominally gained a majority in the chamber,when the new House convened in 2019,Democratic members formed a coalition with Independents and dissident Republicans to re-elect Bryce Edgmon as Speaker.
Kathy Ellen Manning is an American lawyer and politician from North Carolina,presently representing the state's North 6th congressional district. A member of the Democratic Party,her district is in the heart of the Piedmont Triad and includes Greensboro and most of Winston-Salem. She was the nominee for North Carolina's 13th congressional district in the 2018 election,and ran for and won the neighboring 6th in the 2020 election after court-ordered redistricting.
The 2022 Alaska Senate elections took place on November 8,2022,with the primary elections being held on August 16,2022. State senators serve four-year terms in the Alaska Senate,with half of the seats normally up for election every two years. However,because most districts were greatly changed in redistricting,elections were held for 19 of the 20 seats;the only exception is District T,represented by Democrat Donny Olson,which was mostly unchanged in redistricting and thus did not have an election. Some senators were elected to serve four-year terms,while others would serve shortened two-year terms.
A general election was held in the state of Alaska on November 6,2018. Primary elections were held on August 21,2018.
The Bush Caucus consists of bipartisan members of the Alaska Legislature who represent rural interests. The caucus typically consists of the members of the Alaska House from Districts 37-40 and the Alaska Senate from districts S and T,which cover the Alaskan Bush.
