The Neoschizotheciaceae are a family of fungi in the Ascomycota, class Sordariomycetes and order Sordariales. [2] [3]
It was introduced in 2021 after molecular analysis of several species of fungi in the Sordariales order. These taxa were found to be similar to taxa found in the families of Bombardiaceae, Podosporaceae and Lasiosphaeriaceae. As they had ellipsoidal ascospores, sometimes with appendages, but they were phylogenetically distinct from these three families. [4] Neoschizotheciaceae was established based on Neoschizothecium. [1]
The Hypocreales are an order of fungi within the class Sordariomycetes. In 2008, it was estimated that it contained some 237 genera, and 2647 species in seven families. Since then, a considerable number of further taxa have been identified, including an additional family, the Stachybotryaceae. Wijayawardene et al. in 2020 added more families and genera to the order. According to the Catalog of Life, As of April 2021 the Hypocreales contains 6 families, 137 genera, and 1411 species.
The order Sordariales is one of the most diverse taxonomic groups within the Sordariomycetes.
The Dactylosporaceae or Sclerococcaceae are a family of lichen-forming fungi in the class Eurotiomycetes. It is the only family of the order Sclerococcales and subclass Sclerococcomycetidae.
The Basidiobolaceae are a family of fungi in the monotypic order Basidiobolales. All fungal cells of this family are exclusively uninucleate and their relatively large nuclei contain a nucleolus, but no heterochromatin.
Herpotrichiellaceae is a family of ascomycetous fungi within the order Chaetothyriales and within the class Eurotiomycetes. It contains 16 genera and about 270 species. The type genus of the family, Herpotrichiella, is now synonymous with Capronia.
The Chaetosphaeriales are an order of fungi within the class Sordariomycetes.
The Coniochaetales are an order of fungi within the class Sordariomycetes. This order was monotypic and contained a single family, the Coniochaetaceae, historically placed in the order Sordariales. However, this taxonomic placement has been challenged by other authorities, and the Coniochaetales was proposed to include the family Coniochaetaceae. In 2020, family Cordanaceae was added to the order.
Apiorhynchostoma is a genus of fungi in the family Boliniaceae; according to the 2007 Outline of Ascomycota. The placement was confirmed in 2020.
The Annulatascaceae are a family of fungi in the monotypic order Annulatascales of the class Sordariomycetes of the Ascomycota. The family had not been assigned to any order, until 2020 when it was placed with a new order Annulatascales M.J. D'souza, Maharachch. & K.D. Hyde.
Aquaticola is a genus of fungi in the Cephalothecaceae family of the Ascomycota. The relationship of this taxon to other taxa within the Sordariomycetes class is unknown, except that it is in subclass Diaporthomycetidae, and it has not yet been placed with certainty into any order.
Apodus is a genus of fungi that was originally placed within the Lasiosphaeriaceae family. In 2020 it was placed within the Neoschizotheciaceae family.
Cercophora is a genus of fungi which was within the Lasiosphaeriaceae family. As of 2020, it was placed into the Neoschizotheciaceae family.
Jugulospora is a genus of fungi that was placed within the Lasiosphaeriaceae family, It was then moved into the Neoschizotheciaceae family. This was thought to be a monotypic genus, containing the single species Jugulospora rotula, until more species were found.
Zygopleurage is a genus of fungi, that was placed within the Lasiosphaeriaceae family. until later analysis placed it within the Neoschizotheciaceae family.
The Arctomiaceae are a family of lichenized fungi in the Ascomycota, class Baeomycetales. The family was named by Theodor Magnus Fries in 1861, with Arctomia as the type genus. Species in this family are found in arctic and subarctic habitats, usually associated with bryophytes.
Fluminicola is a fungal genus in the family Papulosaceae of the Ascomycota. The relationship of this taxon to other taxa within the Sordariomycetes class is unknown, and it has not yet been placed with certainty into any order. This is was a monotypic genus, containing the single species Fluminicola bipolaris until new species were found in 2017 and 2021.
The Magnaporthales are an order of fungi within the class Sordariomycetes.
Strigulales is an order of lichen-forming fungi in the class Dothideomycetes. It contains two families: Strigulaceae and Tenuitholiascaceae, with a combined total of 115 species. The order was proposed by Robert Lücking, Matthew Nelsen, and Kevin Hyde in 2013. Most species in the order are foliicolous, that is, they grow on plant leaves.
Rhagadostoma is a genus of fungi in the family Nitschkiaceae. All species in the genus are lichenicolous, meaning they live parasitically on lichens.
Diaporthomycetidae is a subclass of sac fungi under class Sordariomycetes.
